(After the Blue Sky Studios logo, the film opens up on a close up of a drop of water on a leaf. But though it may be wet, a few drops of water on the leaf have merged to one and has began its drop off from the leaf then splashed a sweetgum seed pod from a sweetgum tree. That ball fall down from the tree then rolls through a field of dandelions. The ball then rolls down through a crack and went inside a cave where in this cave was a single sunflower standing in the sunlight. The sweetgum seed rolls closer and closer to the sun till when it hits it and rolls off, the sunflower dislodges a small speck and it starts to drift off from the flower to the open crack on the wall. But when we went through it, we discover a strange jungle full of bizarre plants and beautiful trees. This is the Jungle of Nool. A vast jungle of strange and weird creatures all great and small. The speck drift over the water then drift down from a waterfall. However, we did hear some shakin goin on. We then cut to where the shaking comes from. It was coming from a grey elephant with no horns on its mouth. This is Horton. He’s an elephant. He blends down a tree to make it like an diving board and he gets on it, he stands on his two feet with pride… then sighs in relief. He made his ears into a swimmer’s net then starts to jump off the tree like a swimmer and into the water with a swan dive but splashed in the water instead. Soon, he was relaxing in the Jungle of Nool in the of the day and the heat of the day in the cool of the pool.)

On the fifteenth of May
in the Jungle of Nool,
in the heat of the day
in the cool of the pool.
He was splashing enjoying the jungle's great joys... (Horton was watering his back by squirting water out of his trunk)
when Horton the Elephant heard a small noise.

Speck
(The speck flew by Horton, uttering a small cry for help.)

Help!

(The elephant looks around, and he blows water out of his ear, as well as a fish.) (offscreen)

Horton!

(as John F. Kennedy's voice)

And, uh, we will, uh, put us back on Mount Nool before the end of this, uh, decade.
(Just as Horton arriving to Mount Nool, Mrs. Quilligan, who is lying on a tree, noticed Horton's speck is still alive. Shocked, she flies in panic, although her wings are disproportionately small for her body.)

Mrs. Quilligan
(rapidly)

Oh! This-this Elephant, he's crazy. Oh my goodness! I gotta tell everybody. I need to get to the Kangaroo. Whoo! Wait til they find out about...

Oh! You should've been seeing me. I really let elephant have it. I chase him, i torment him. And then I break him into million little elephant pieces. (Rudy gasps in shocked, hearing about it) It was thing of beauty, really. My best work. Classic Vlad.

And the clover?

Clover is finished. No way in million years Horton find it. Read my beak: Clover is gone forever.

Mrs. Quilligan
(Mrs. Quilligan lands and fell off, Vlad laughs as he sees her)

I just saw Horton and he is still talking to that CLOVER!

(Sour looks at Vlad, who chuckles nervously, in anger, thinking he was lying to her)

Idiot! (storms off)

Whoa! Come on, I'm your bro! It's me you're talking to! We have history! Come on, let's not forget, I did this for free!

(she wipes through large leaves)

What is happening to the Jungle of Nool? (she jumps towards the animals in the clearing) There once was a time when people were people, (Tommy, his father Willie, and another cow-bear standing next to them look at Sour in surprise with other animals), and specks were specks. (three Zatz-Its look on her, and these on left slowly shakes his head yes) Well I say if you can't see it, hear it, or feel it (jumps onto the central rock), it doesn't exist. Our way of life is under attack. And who's leading that attack? (turns gently, then turns abruptly and raises their hands in a gesture of haunting) Horton!!

(The animals gasp in shocked and horror, then Morton arrived, interrupting the speech)

Whoa, whoa, whoa! Wait a minute! This is Horton we're talking about, you know about him. He wouldn't hurt a fly. Except for that fly city he sat on. But he didn't do that on purpose.

(coldly and angrily)

SHUT UP, Mouse!

Oh, yeah. That's weird. My brownies are burning. I got to go. (He runs off quickly)

Are we going to let troublemakers like Horton (grabs Rudy as an example) poison the minds of our children?!

Not the children!!

(The Wickershams arrives to all the animals hear Sour's speech too)

When Horton tells our children about worlds beyond the jungle, he makes them question the authority. Which leads to defiance, which leads to ANARCHY!!!

Yeah!! Horton must pay!!

Mrs. Glummox

It's that speck!

Willie Cow-Bear

Now, we have to do something!

Mrs. Quilligan

For the children!

For the children!

ARE WE GOING TO LET HIM GET AWAY WITH THIS??!!

Various Residents

NO!!!

(They all start to run, attack, and charge at Horton as a mob)

Let's get him!

(Back at Who-ville, The Mayor pushes the desk back to his office)

Mayor?

Ah, Horton.

Are you okay?

Ah. (He later looks outside to see the residents standing, then he saw an orange Who grabbing on a machine, with a green Who getting out) Well, more or less. What happened? The bird?

Yeah, it attacked me. (more serious) Mayor, your people are in danger.

You know what, I'm gonna do it. I'm going to go out there. And tell them what is going on.

Perfect. Now quick, get going.

Who 1
(The Mayor goes outside, babbling, as he is about to make his announcement)

Hey, Mr. Mayor! Something's wrong!

Who 2

My basement is in the attic.

Who 3

The science museum is history.
Who 4: The Lost and Found is missing.

Who 5
(We then saw Jojo who is on the car-like machine and exits to see his father)

What's going on Mr. Mayor?

I'm declaring a state of emergency.

(The chairmans arrive)

Don't worry. Don't worry. The Mayor is just being a moron. (All of the Who residents all leave as they're nothing happening)

No, wait! Whoville is in terrible danger. Everyone needs to get down to the underground storage area immediately.

Fine, fine. Let's do this democratically. Who wants the joy and glory and festivity of the Who-centennial to proceed as planned? (They all cheer, except for Sally) And who, like the Mayor, (A beach ball is thrown to the Mayor) thinks it would be better to spend the Who-Centennial in an underground storage area?

Obnoxious Who

YEAH!!! (Tries to high five somebody, much to no one's answer)

Wait! You got to listen to me. Our whole world could explode! (grabs a beach ball as example. The Whos gasp in shocked. The Mayor grabs a pen and stabs the beach ball, with a little air coming out of the ball) Much more quickly. (Squeezes the beach ball to understand his point more quickly) And our world wouldn't make that noise.

The people have spoken Mr. Mayor. You're finished. No one believes you. No one supports you.

Horton believes me.

Horton? Who's Horton?

Horton is a giant elephant in the sky. (points up to the sky, much to the Who's confusion) Don't bother looking, he's invisible. And he is the one risking his life to get Whoville, which by the way is a speck on a clover, to safety.

(Silence, Sally facepalms in shame. Then the Chairman laughs loudly as well as the Who-ville residents, except Sally and Jojo)

I can prove it. Horton's voice comes out of this horn. (Who-ville residents uses their stuff to hear Horton's voice from the horn.) Horton! (At the jungle, Horton stops walking and hears Mayor's voice) I have all the Whos gathered in town square. Let them know you there.

Gee. It's a kind of high pressure situation then. Wow. I'm really running a blank here. (He has an idea) I know. (But the Vlad yanks the speck, much to Horton's horror)

Horton? Horton, We're waiting. Time to show everyone that you exist and... By extension what a non-boob I am. (chuckles awkwardly, and everyone laughs at him once again, until heavy wind swept around) Wait! Everyone, look at the wind. What do you think that means?

It means, Um, it means... obviously, uh... Let the Kite Flying Race begins! (They all cheer and began the kite race)

(To the speck)

I don't understand. I know I heard you. It was just clean as nose on my face. (Has an idea) That's it. Maybe you can't hear me! Of course your ears must be tiny. I need to speak up! H-E-E-E-L-L-O-O-O-O!

Now some people out there, I think I know who,
may find they agree with that Sour Kangaroo.
"There can't really be people as small as a mite."
Well, there can, and there are, because Horton was right.

(?)

That single "Hello" traveled all the way down
to the speck, to the clouds, till it found a small town.
A town known as Whoville for there live the Who's,
Really happy in safe, knowing only good news,
unaware that their world was a speck on a clover,
unaware the sweet life they knew might be old. (There in the Ned's house)
The Mayor of Whoville, a man named McDodd,
who's devoted and faired and little bit odd. (The Mayor drinks his coffee, then realizes it's gone, then later forget that happened. The scene then cuts to the kitchen)
The Mayor and his wife they had children to spare.
96 daughters some here and some there. :96 girls to love. 96 girls to teach?
But the Mayor had only a few seconds for each.

Helen McDodd

Daddy. I got better than best on my Whostory test.

Ah, Whostory. I remembered well.
Sally O'Malley-McDodd: That's one of my girls. (There are two daughters. She is named Hooly younger sister and Hedy older sister)

Hooly McDodd

Hedy's been using my blue hairbrush!

Hedy McDodd

Hooly's been using my pink hairbrush!

Look, over there! (They both look and Mayor switched the pink & blue hairbrushes) There, all better. (They both sisters hugged at each other)

Heather McDodd

Can I please have a Whophone, dad? Everyone else has one.

Oh, really? Everyone? (Heather holds up a picture of her class, where everybody is talking away on their phones except her, looking sadly at the camera.) Oh! I will think about it.

Holly and Hildy McDodd

Daddy, look! Daddy look!
(The twins have their hair tied jumping rope together swinging it in loops, when their father jumps between it's like a jump rope, before returning to his seat as the bell rings. A baby girl she is named Hanna 1 year old)

Hanna McDodd

Toof!
Sally O'Malley-McDodd: It's "th" sweetheart. It's "Tooth"

In Whoville tradition, unlike yours or mine,
the Mayor's oldest is next in the Mayoral line.
And who was the oldest? To lead and stand tall?
It was JoJo, his son, the smallest Who of all.

(trying to sound more hip)

So, JoJo, what's shaking? What's happening? What's the word? (JoJo cringes at him)

Now to you or to me, it's finally clear
that JoJo did not want his father's career. But the Mayor pressed forward completely illuded.
And JoJo just sat there in silence and lude it.

(JoJo gets up from his seat and leaves.)

Oh, JoJo! (He rushes to Jojo)

McDodd Sisters

Hey! Why this he get more time?
That's not fair!

Son! Hey!

And why didn't he speak? Well, I think the lad
was frightened if he did, he might let down his dad.

You know what's awesome? (Shows Jojo his past portraits of past Mayors) This is awesome! Just look at the men and the women hanging on these walls. You, my boy, are part of family legacy that spans centuries You know what? (Shows a portrait of his grandfather who happens to be Dr. Seuss) Your grandfather was Mayor of Whoville. And, your great grandmother, (Shows a portrait of his great grandmother, who happens to be Mona Lisa) that's right. All the way down to your... (Breaths as his chest expand and his arm rolls like a roll-up) Great, (Shows a portrait of a Who in a soviet hat) Great, (Shows a portrait of a Shakespeare-style Who) Great, (Shows a Who with a very long beard) Not so great, (Shows an ugly who in a ballerina with other ballerinas) Great, (Shows a portrait of a Who in a boxing match in black and white with a signature) Great, (Shows a portrait of a Mexican Who in a sombrero) Great, Great, Great, (shows a portrait of a fat Who eating a turkey leg with the other Who fanning on a leaf) Great, Great, Great, GREAT... (goes all the way back to the very first portrait, which is a cavemen) Grandfather! Someday, I hope to join them. Be one of the greats. I tell you, JoJo, there is nothing like being Mayor. I get to sign resolutions, approve ordinances, submit budgets, and in the Edible Parade, I'm the one sitting on top of the giant meatball. Some day, that can be you too, JoJo. Some day you'll be the one wearing the Mayoral Crest. You just... You just need to... You know what I mean? (sees Jojo walking away) Okay Good chat! I'm glad that we had this talk... that I'm continuing now by myself. Good. (Something shakes the hall as the portraits start shaking as well, before returning to the original format, much to Ned's confusion)

All right. I got to get this speck up to the top of Mountain Nool A-S-A-P! Whatever that means. Probably "Act Swiftly, Awesome Pachyderm!" I mean, how hard can it be? (looks at a really, really long rickety bridge, shocked) It's just a straight plummet to certain death. (?) This looks... kinda precarious. Well... no need to worry. Obviously when they build a bridge like this, they take into account that elephants will be crossing here. (Horton reaches his foot out and puts his weight onto the bridge, which bends good.) Alright. Feel good. I'll just get... whoa! (He steps onto the bridge with his whole body, making him lose his balance. And each step causing him to wobble on the bridge.)
(Meanwhile, back in Whoville, the Mayor is at the dentist for his Who-root canal, feeling stressed as he sits into the chair. Looking around, he spots a portrait of a whale tail dipping out of the water, and a label saying "Courage.")

W- Uh yeah, that's true. (He lays back into his chair with a sigh, trying to calm his mind and relax, thinking it's gonna be okay, when he hears a scream from a room over, followed by a higher pitched scream. Panicked, he gets up and attempts to run out) Alright! (but is stopped by the operating dentists.)

Dentist

Hello, and how are we today, Mr. Mayor? (grabs an water flosser) Say aaaaah.

(He finds what looks like stable footing,)

Ah! (takes a step, but falls right through the plank, causing the dentist to miss the Mayor's mouth, but instead hit his eye with the stream of water, much to his discomfort. Looking around confused, the dentist forgets the weird shake, and proceed.)

Dentist

Rinse, please. (The Mayor fountains the water out of his mouth and into the cup, prompting the dentist to scrape a little dollop of water off his lip.)

Huh, I think a few of these boards could stand to be replaced. (He takes a step back, but the plank behind him breaks, causing every single plank behind him to fall off and crumble.) I just need to think light. I'm light as a feather. I'm light... as a feather. (He watches as a passing bird drops a feather, which lands on a board, causing it to break and fall.) Heavy feather.

Dentist

Okay! (He taps a syringe.) This will just pinch a little.

(nervously)

Uhh...

I'm lighter than a feather. What's lighter than a feather...? (gasp of idea) Air! There's nothing lighter. So, it stands to reason... (He takes a breath in.) That the more air I have... (He takes another breath, his talking strained.) The lighter... (And another.) I'll be...!
(The music, "The Blue Danube" plays as Horton holds his breath with an inflated trunk, thinking for him to be floating in air, but he quickly steps across the bridge, breaking each plank he steps on. The scene switches between the dentist getting closer with the syringe to the Mayor's tongue, and Horton getting closer to the end of the bridge, but as he runs out of breath, he exhales powerfully enough to send him barreling back down to the middle of the bridge with nothing but the support ropes keeping him from falling. While in response to the fall, the dentist misses the Mayor's tongue, and somehow jabs his arm with the needle instead, prompting the Mayor to scream in pain as his arm is now longer and limp from the shot. He gets up and runs away, but struggles to open the door with his bad arm until he uses his other arm to open the door, running out and slapping the people in the waiting room with his numb arm.)

Dentist

Next, please.

Alright. That was absolutely terrifying. If I just pull myself UP- (His legs spread out as he tries to hold onto the ropes and looks down at the abyss beneath him.) Try not to panic! (Painstakingly, he manages to pull himself back up to the end of the bridge, grabbing onto the posts when they jolt downward. He starts screaming as he believes for him to be falling, but as the camera zooms out, he's not falling, and he just acted pre-emptively. He hums, and pulls himself all the way back onto solid ground.) Whew. That could have been a disaster! (As he walks, his bottom begins to bounce and bop, getting into a giddy groove.) Wow, I feel really good right now. Maybe it's my new sense of purpose. (He begins ballet dancing, grabbing a vine off of a tree and twirling it like a ribbon, before the theme changes to a rap-themed, twerking in motion and spin, which sends him crashing into a tree with a "Whoa!")

Wow! There, now you're safe. I know I heard you say something. I just know it. Where are you? :(Has a bit of the speck on his eye and gets it out)

Horton?

Uh, ooh! Sorry. I just...ah. There was this speck. And the... they called up for help. And I was...

The speck... called out for help?

Well not the speck. I mean, that's ridiculous. Is what you thought I've been? No, the speck can't call out for help. Come on. Get real! No. There's tiny person on that speck and needs my help.

Absurd. There aren't people that small.

Whoa, maybe they aren't small. Maybe... We're big.

Horton!

No! Really, think about it. What if there is someone way out there, looking down on our world right now. And to them, we are the speck. And then maybe someone else will come along and say, "Oh, there can't be people that small", and the first guy would say, "Are you calling me a liar?" And the second guy would say "If the shoe fits, wear it!" And now the fists are flying, and the first guy picks up a brick, and you might wanna zip up the pouch for this next part. (Uses his ears as a hat) "Alright, Fat boy! You want some of this?"

Horton?

There is nothing on that speck.

But I heard.

Did you? Really? Oh my! Then how come I don't hear anything?

If you can't see, hear, or feel something it doesn't exist. And believing in tiny imaginary people is just not something we do. Or tolerate here in the jungle of Nool.

Really? 'Cause I verified I really tried I can find somebody who believe what I'm saying.

You will do nothing of the sort. You will not breathe the word of this lie to anyone else. Especially the children. I do not want you poisoning their minds with this nonsense. Our community has standards, Horton. If you wanna remain a part of that, I recommend you follow them. Have a nice day.

(She jumps through the water and makes a splash through Horton, who he quickly uses his ears to cover the speck)

All right, then, I'll, uh, take that under advisement. Certainly appreciate your input.

(to Horton)

Listen, Horton, turns out I need your help a little bit. Apparently, if that speck keeps moving around, our whole world… could be obliterated. So I need you to find us Whos a safer, more stable home… and fast.

No problem, Mr. Mayor. Let's see… (looks at a flower) Wow! That's a nice view.

(A giraffe-like creature of the species Zatz-It eats the flowers. Horton gets scared.)

Hello, is everything okay?!
(A grape falls on Horton's head. He looks to find out where the grape came from, and it was two woodpecker-like birds who are pecking a pile of grapes, taking turns trying to knock them down, causing them to fall and hit Horton, Horton then dodges 2 more, and a anteater-like creature with a vacuum-like snout of the species Nink walks by consuming flowers, nearby some termite-like insects with bladed teeth. Horton gasps in fear.)

What's going on up there?

(A Zatz-It eating the flowers, the two birds who are now pecking the grapes at the same exact time, just slightly off from each other, Horton gasps in shock.) (freaking out)

OH NO!

(The same thing loops every time and it cuts to the insects eating what it looks like a tree, but is actually just a flower. Horton screams then runs to a hill)

THIS ENTIRE JUNGLE IS A HOUSE OF DEATH!!! (he stops panicking and looks up) Oh, wait. There's a good spot.

And it's then Horton saw at the top of Mount Nool
(the camera flies to Mount Nool's cave with a sunflower, the one that started this whole mess in the first place) a small cave that looked peaceful and quiet and cool,
where a sunflower grew proud and tall from the ground.
There, he knew every Who would be safe. Would be sound.

I found it, Mayor. The perfect place. Right up there. At the top of Mount Nool.

Mr. Mayor?

(The mayor was startled when Miss Yelp entered the office)

I wish you could-

(The mayor muted the horn, then starts rubbing it)

Haha, oh, shiny. Haha...

The Who-Centennial Committee is waiting for you to look over the giant meatball for the Edible Parade. Oh, and then you're due at the dentist for your Who-root canal.

You know, sticking “Who” in front of everything doesn’t make it hurt less. Just wastes time! (Miss Yelp closes the door) I don’t… wanna go. (to Horton) Listen, Horton, I gotta go. (packs most of his things in his suitcase, including his coffee and his goldfish) Apparently, there’s a problem with the giant meatball.

You just take care of that meatball, sir, and leave the freaking out to me.

So then Horton began his long, perilous trek,
determined to save the small world on the speck.
Horton was faithful and stalwart and kind.

I got you. Don't worry. I'll protect you!

He was a brave hero... at least in his mind.

(uses his ears as a ninja hood)

We must become invisible. Travel silently. For there are forces that would seek to destroy us.

(The camera zooms in on Horton's head as it transitions into an anime-style sequence. A giant tree sprouts up from the ground, blocking his path.)

Huh?! So you think you can sneak up on me, huh?! (combat noises) It is clear that you are no match for my technique. Hey! (kicks a branch, but it snaps back and smacks his butt with an awkward shot of a red mark from below.) I see you have mastered the way of the snapping branch. Watch me tumble! (He jumps from branch to branch to the top of the tree.)

Off-Screen Voice

Morton Mouse, go!

You are fast, Horton, but the Kangaroo has monkeys! (Monkeys can be seen flying in from the distance.)

Hm? I will make monkeys of these monkeys. It is their destiny. (He does a Dragon Ball-style to fire a beam of energy at the monkeys.) For the clover!

Clover
(cuts to a cute, anime style, with Morton looks in awe.)

Horton is the greatest hero of them all, haaaa!
(Cuts back to the same anime style) Horton and Morton: Horton! Morton! GO! (Horton runs forward, screaming, but is stopped by Morton.)

But Mount Nool is that way! (Horton felt dumb-founded for a sec.)

Ha-ha-ha! To the top of Mount Nool! As fast as lightning! Away, I go. (He starts to jumpkicks, but snaps back to reality as he trips, landing on a flower.) Oh, sorry little fellow. You'll be fine. Just think healing thoughts.

Horton, Horton! Look!

(Katie gets bumped by a log repeatedly)

We've all got our own clovers with worlds on them!

In my world, everyone's a pony, and they all eat rainbows, and poop butterflies!

That's beautiful, Katie ! (Katie she puts her flower on the top of her head and walks away)

Ha-ah-ah.

In a... really weird way.

My world is called Jessicaland, and everyone worships Queen Jessica because Jessica is so beautiful.

Jessica, that was awesome.

(As they talk about their specks with their worlds, Sour is picking some fruits from a tree and she saw his son, with an orange flower and grabs it to her)

Rudy!

Mom, be careful! My best friend Thidwick lives on that!

Rudy, no one lives on this, it's not possible. (She crushes the flower in front of him.)

What...?

That Horton is a menace.

Mom, Mom, please, you're so weird! Don't do this to me!

Honey, go to your room. (Pushes Rudy's head to her pouch) Horton! (Horton and his class look away, while Jessica and Angela scream in terror and run away at the sight of Sour. Rudy's mother kicks Katie from bush, sending her flying over a tree resembling a football goal, but surprisingly, she finds it amusing)

(happy)

Its good.

(to Horton)

What do you think you're doing?

Oh, you guys with worlds are in trouble! (he run away)

Have you forgotten what we've discussed?

Oh no, I'm an Elephant and Elephants never forget, it's a curse really! I remember, I was on my head and you said hmm and I looked up and you said ,what are you doing?, and I said the thing about the speck, then you pulled my ears and you poked me in the forehead...

Horton!

: Well you did.

Heey, JoJo. Wooooow, lotta liquid. Loottta liquid. Just the person I wanted to see. Yeah, I realize that we have not been seeing eye-to-eye lately, and most of it is my fault. It's true. You know what I've been trying to do? I've been trying to impose my vision of your future on you. Let me make this perfectly clear. JoJo... you can be whatever kind of Mayor you wanna be. Hands on, strong and silent, outspoken, it's up to you. Well, good. I feel so much better. I am expecting big things from you, young man. Big things! Alright. Good night. Good stop! Good talk.

Then, JoJo snuck out, feeling lonely and sad,
and tragically misunderstood by his Dad. And where was he going at such a late hour?
Up to Whoville's abandoned star study tower.
A place where the boy felt contented and free.
A place he could be what he wanted to be
(JoJo enters the abandoned observatory) And what was inside there, I'd say if I could. But up above, the Kangaroo was up to no good.

(?)

Can I come out now, Mom?

No, Rudy. Stay in your room.

But Mom...

Stay inside. ahem... Mr. Vladikoff? (gets jumpscared by vulture-like monster and yelps.)

Eating. Go.

Yes, I realize you're busy. But I need your help. It's Horton. He's become obsessed with a clover. And he actually thinks there are little people on it. I want that clover destroyed!

Sure, what a big deal this is… for you, bro.

I'd do it myself, but being a lady, I prefer not getting my hands dirty. But I hear you have no problem with that.

No. No problem. Easy peasy. But... I will only do this for a price. In exchange for a brand new pair of- No... this. Little Kangaroo.

Mom?!

Quiet, Rudy. Mommy's thinking it over. (to Vlad) Huh... well thaaanks, but on second thought, I think I'm going to have the Wickersham Brothers take care of this for me.

Yeah, of course, Wickersham. I mean they're-they're classy operation, y'know they did- WAIT, NO! YOU CAN'T GO WITH WICKERSHAM!

No no, no no, the Wickershams would be perfect for this job.

But... they're monkeys! Is not scary!

Uhh, thanks anyway. Maybe next time.

Wait! Here is what I will do to precious clover. I will take it, I will crush it… …And I will devour it. (He begins to choke on a bone he swallowed) Bigger than it look! One second! (retch) Holy moly! (He manages to cough it up and pull it out.) Then I will regurgitate it… …And then, I will devour it second time! So… two times devoured!

Sounds nice... But I think I'll talk to the Wickershams.

Here is best part. I do all... (mispronounced) g-g-gratis. That's free, bro. What do you think? (He nods excitedly, knowing he wants the deal)

Deal.

YES! SCORE! Thanking you! You won't regret! (He flies away laughing, forgetting to flap and falls for a moment, before getting back up with a cackle.)
(Back to Horton as he is sleeping alone with the clover and he feels cold so he warm himself. Fade to black.)

Now, the Mayor knew it was his job to convey the unusual things that he'd noticed that day, but there was one problem. Though his will was strong...

You're late.

Thank you, Miss Yelp.

... nothing in Whoville had ever gone wrong.

Everyone

We have all that we need. We need all that we've got.
We like it in Whoville. We like it a lot!

We're all very busy with the Who-Centennial coming up, so (bangs the gavel) let's bring this meeting to order. Mr. Mayor, I presume you have some good news for us.

Well, it's news. I don't know if we need to go labeling it "good" or "bad" or anything like that. The thing is, I have noticed some odd goings-on in Whoville lately.

Good "odd goings-on"?

Well, you know, tremors, clouds swirling in the sky. And it seems to me, just to be safe, we might want to consider (mumbling) postponing the Who-Centennial.

Consider what?

(even quieter)

postponing the Who-centennial...

(The stenographer can't hear him probably, so she just types gibberish)

What?? Speak up, man!

...POSTPONING THE WHO-CENTENNIAL, ALL RIGHT?!
(Mummers and gasps of worry spread throughout the court, and the Chairman presses a smiley button his desk which puts his co-men and the mayor in a glass dome, and the onlookers relax as elevator style music plays. The enraged Chairman chases the Mayor around the dome, strangles him, and illustrates him as a donkey-like animal's behind in complete silence, much to concerned looks.)

We are about to celebrate 100 years of Whoville happiness and harmony, and you want to postpone the celebration?!

Well, what if Whoville's not safe?

Nothing ever goes wrong in Whoville. Never has, and never will, you blathering boob.

(whispers)

Boob...?

(The chairman presses the button again as the glass dome puts back off, the music also stops.)

The Who-Centennial will proceed as planned! (the people cheered) The Mayor was merely being an idiot. It will be all smiles from now on.

(A machine with gloves makes the Mayor smiles and later escorts him out by kicking him in the back with a boot)

Ow. Ow. That hurt!
(As the machine keeps kicking him out)

I hear it! I hear it! They are there!

(The crowd looks at Rudy as roping and caging stops)

And that "Yopp!", that one small extra "Yopp!" put it over.

Wickersham 1
(as the Wickershams let Horton out of the cage)

I hear it.

Wickersham 2

Me too.

Wickersham 3

So do I.

(Sour looks at son)

Rudy. (She tries to give Rudy the clover) Give me that! Come, Ru...

(Rudy jumps out of mother's pouch, away from his mother.) (smiling nervously)

Rudy, get back in the pouch, now.

(he turns his head to his mother)

No, Mom.(Horton is clued up)

Uh, Wickershams! Get that clover!

(Rudy stops in front of the Wickersham Brothers. They let him pass while glancing at the Rudy's mother) (shocked)

Well...A..Anybody take it from him.
(The crowd all glances and growls of the Sour. Yawling Yak, Deer-whose-horns-are-connected-from-one-to-the-other and Cow-Bear looking at her with angry. Sour sighs in humiliation. Her son approaches Horton and gives him his clover)

(to the speck)

You did it, Mayor. You did it.

(Back in Whoville.)

We did it!

Obnoxious Who

YEAH!!! (Tries to high five somebody, but one Who high fives him)

Well done, son.

Who

Alright, Mayor!

JoJo McDodd

Dad, you're one of the Greats!

(Back at the Jungle of Nool)

Wow! Easy, everyone. Easy! (looks down) Oh hi, Vlad. (The animals gasp in shock, knowing. But, out of nowhere, it's actually a bunny named Vlad. He holding the cookies, the one Horton was confused about earlier, and wants him to have one) Well, I shouldn't. But...
(He takes a cookie, but when he starts to eat it. But Sour, she defeated. He later shows up to her and wants her to have a cookie. Sour then smiles and uses his umbrella at the speck, knowing to let go of her past)

Oh man, that is nice touch. I'm a mess of this, right? Emotional! Here come the water slide. (starts to cry)

Wow. (chuckles) There are so many people to thank. The good people of Nool who put me on a cage and poke me with sticks...

That was me!

My buddy, Morton, for being the only who stood by me. Well, not right by me. He's hidden in the bushes sending me good thoughts. He's small.

Dude, you are a warrior poet.

And most of all, I'd like to thank to the Mayor of Whoville. Who believed me from the beginning.

Oh, Horton, we're going to miss you.

JoJo McDodd

What are we gonna do without you, Horton?

Ah, don't worry. I'll always be around. (sings to the lyrics of "I Can't Fight This Feeling Anymore" by REO Speedwagon) (He holds Willie Cow-Bear in a dancing gesture, stroking his head) And even as I wander, (he puts her arms around him and Mrs. Quilligan) I'll keep you in sight.

(sings)

You're a candle in the window.
Sally O'Malley-McDodd: (sings) On a cool dark winter's night.

Beautiful metaphor.

Horton and Mayor
(singing)

And I'm getting closer than I ever thought I might.

Whoo, little too high for me.
(sings) Baby, (He, Sour Kangaroo and Mrs. Quilligan go in the direction of snapping their fingers)
I can't fight this feeling any more.

(sings)

I've forgotten what I started fighting for.

(Katie then starts flying out of existence) (sings)

And if I have to crawl upon the floor.
Sally O'Malley-McDodd: (sings) Crawl upon the floor.

(sings)

Come crashing through your door.

(sings)

Crashing through your door.

Whos
(sings)

Baby, I can't fight this feeling anymore.

JoJo McDodd
(sings)

I can't fight this feeling anymore (Cut back to the Jungle of Nool, where Horton, along with Rudy's mother, who is holding an umbrella over the clover, are walking towards Mount Nool to set up Who-ville, with the other animals following them. The camera zooms out.)

And so, all ended well for those, Horton and Whos.
And for all in the jungle, even Kangaroos.
So let that be a lesson to one and to all.
A person's a person...
(As it zooms out, turns out that the Jungle of Nool, like Who-ville, is a tiny speck (and only one of many) in spacewith.)...
no matter how small.
(Katie still flying out of existence, ending the film)

(As the animals start charging which making a stampede, cuts to Horton as he is heading to Mount Nool when he stops to hear something from the ground. He lifts up and he sees Morton running to him)

Morton. I told you, 100%!

(Panting while running)

Horton.

Morton, pick up your feet. Jeez!

It’s not me!

(The rumbling gets louder as the stampede of the various animals appears.)

Oh, ho, ho. I see, it’s an angry mob. Sorry, Morton. I thought it was you that was making all that… (he then realizes it) but it’s… (shocked) oh, darn.

Animal

Everybody, come on!

[jumps into the air.]

'RUN, HORTON!!! (gets stepped on by the giant animals)

There he is!! (The large crowd of animal stampede runs as Jane gets up on a rock, watching, Yummo jumps through it.) Let's rope him!

Let's cage him!

(Horton tries to run away from enraged animals in Jungle of Nool, but is stopped by an angry mob of animals, blocking his path)

STOP!!!! (the running animals stops)

Hey, fellas. Good to see ya, all at once. You look really great as a horde.

Horton, Horton, Horton, look at the mess you created for yourself. All this hullabaloo over a silly little flower.

It's a speck.

Right. I mean it's silly, really, all this talk of roping you and caging you and... well, we don't need to go into the details. The point is, this angry mob, of all the trouble you're in, it can all go away.

(The Wickershams look at Horton and goes "Aw!")

Really?

Of course. All you have to do is admit to everyone that there are no small people living on that speck, that you were wrong and I was right. You do that, and things can go right back to the way they were. But, if you don't, You're going to have to pay the price.

(The Wickershams grabbed a big cage, much to Horton's fear, as an example)

So I just have to say it isn't true? (the residents were silent, hearing about what Horton will have to say) Go ahead! Rope me! Cage me! Do whatever you want! But there are people on this speck. And they have a Mayor, who has 96 daughters and one son name JoJo, who all share a bathroom, whatever that is. And even though you can't hear or see them at all, a person's a person, no matter how small.
(Much of the Jungle's resident's, including the Wickershams, felt touched by Horton's speech. One of the Wickersham scratches another Wickersham's back and looks at a dandruff, before he realizes and looks up, puppy eyes)

(touched)

That was beautiful, Horton. (enraged) Rope him! Cage him! (All of the residents she grin) Burn that speck in a pot of boiling beezle-nut oil!
(The same Wickersham eats the dandruff instead)

(At Whoville, with Mayor's bed)

Mayor? Mayor? Open up, Mr. Mayor! Mr. Mayor! It's snowing in the summer!

(We then see Whoville, now covered in snow)

Yes. Yes, it is.

It's a dramatic change in the weather. As if we're on a speck floating to space. I don't know how you knew. But, somehow you did. And Whoville is headed for disaster.

Oh, Horton.

Ah, nothing. I'm on it.

It's up to us to save the people of Whoville.

(Back at Horton chases Vlad at a grey, cracked desert, until he got hit by a wall and looks up)

What a burn on you, Horton! Ha, Ha!
(Horton climbs the wall and reaches the top. He grabs on a plant to pull his feet up. He falls forward, puts the plant down and runs through the dirt path in determination. While running, he noticed Vlad's black feather on the branch, grabbing it before glaring at it angrily. He charged through the snow, another feather falling, which he catches up, glancing at it before looking up. He saw the vulture before charging through the snow, he smokes snow air through his trunk like a train and jumps over a gap before landing in the snow, swimming through it and out)

Woo, brain freeze!

(Horton reaches to the top of the mountain, without snow, and rushes to Vlad)

Give me back my speck. (Horton jumps and tries to grab it. But Vlad quickly dodges)

Not this time guy.

(Horton falls and screams as he landed through snow, later runs through it and chases Vlad.) (Back at Who-ville)

I'm so sorry that I let you down, but... this... this is bigger than me. Get the family together and get somewhere safe.
Sally O'Malley-McDodd: I will! I believe you.

(Horton starts running fast, more angrier as he yells at Vlad stares waiting for the moment)

I've got you now, elephant.

No! No! NO! (Vlad he drops the speck, much to Horton's horror, as it shows that it will be dropped at a million specks) Oh, no. (Horton covers his eyes as the speck is about to be dropped, and cuts to Who-Ville being jumped harder)

YEAH!!!
(Vlad laughs evilly as his mission completed. As the screen fades to black)

(Back at Who-Ville, every Who, including the Mayor, heard what Sour said about through the horn, gasps of shocked)

They don't believe we're here. (to the Who's) We got to make some noise! We are here! We are here! We are here!

Men Whos

We are here! We are here! We are here!

ladies Whos

We are here! We are here! We are here!

(to the Charimans)

Come on! (to the Whos) Everybody! (All of the Who's start saying "We are here!" repeatedly) We are here. We are here. We are here.
(Back in Nool, the Wickershams brings in a cauldron of Beelzenut Oil through the angry mob. When dropped on the ground, Horton sees a splash of it killing a flower near it)

(enraged)

THIS WILL TEACH YOU NOT TO MAKE UP STORIES ABOUT PEOPLE ON SPECKS!!!!

(as the mob comes closer to Horton.)

Listen. There they are!
(He holds the clover to let them listen. Willie Cow-Bear, tilts his head and lifts his right ear in confusion, while Mrs. Glummox, Mrs. Quilligan, and one of the Wickershams also look at him in confusion. However, he hears nothing because, looking at Quilligan, he shakes his head no. They become furious again)

Rope him!

Willie Cow-Bear

Cage him!

(The animals in Jungle of Nool start to surround Horton) (to the speck)

It's not working. I can hear you. But, their ears aren't strong enough.

(Back in Whoville)

We need to be louder. Get every Who to make noise! Everyone!
(All Whos start getting louder while shouting "We are here!" with horns and anything to make noise. Jojo, taking noticed, starts running off before the Mayor takes noticed.)

JoJo, where're you going? We need every voice, JoJo!

(The Wickershams start roping Horton up to be pulled to the cage)

You need to make some noise down there. Or we all be destroyed.

(The Mayor starts playing the tom-toms, with the Chairman's confusion)

The Mayor grabbed the tom-toms and starting to smack it.

(A female Who says "Here!" in an high opera voice with the horns playing)

And all over Whoville, They whooped up a racket!
(Dr. Larue was about to knock the door, until it opens itself to let a really long horn playing, with much of the Who's playing it. Cut to a montage of Whos making noises)
They rattle tin kettles, they beat on brass pans!
On garbage pail tops and old cranberry cans!
They blew on bazookas and blasted great toots!
On clarinets, oom-pahs, boom-pahs and flutes!

(A green, overweight Who plays a really small flute before a symphony of horns plays. Cuts to the Who's still being louder and saying "We are here!" repeatedly)

There! (to Horton) Can they hear us now?

Listen! Please! It's the most beautiful thing ever.

I don't hear nothing!

I don't think so. But, keep trying. (The Wickershams starts pulling Horton to get on the cage) Never give in! (tries to struggle, but the Wickershams pulls him harder) Are you sure that every Who down in Whoville is trying?
(The Mayor looks at every Who still saying "We are here!" and making noise, then he sees Sally with a megaphone) Sally O'Malley-McDodd: We are here! We are here!

Where's JoJo?
Sally O'Malley-McDodd: Probably up the old observatory.
(As the Mayor runs to the observatory, we then cut back to Horton, who is still struggling to get in the cage. The Wickersham inside the cage looks horrors as he is crushed by Horton's butt. The Wickershams then pokes Horton through the closing gate)

Hey, there's a limit.

(We then cut to the Mayor, blessing for his godspeed, as he is catapult through the observatory) (Back at the Jungle, the Wickershams keep poking Horton's butt, and pulls his nose longer)

That's not supposed to STRETCH THAT FAR!!! (His tail is also being stretched as well)
(Back at Who-ville, The Mayor struggles to open the door with wood planks until he noticed a tiny door and opens it to see a bunch of instruments playing inside, with him being amazed and saw Jojo, who is adjusting an instrument)

JoJo! You built this?

(Horns kites violins bells drums cymbals) (Back at Nool, Horton is still struggling. But the Kangaroo walks to Horton and yanks the clover. She angry on her face.) (sadden)

You're making a mistake.

(As Sour walks to the pot, she shows the residents of the Jungle of Nool the speck, with the residents all cheer as they're preparing for this moment.)

But Mom!
Sour Kangaroo: This doesn't concern you, sweety. BACK IN THE POUCH!

Everybody, don't stop! Keep going! This is gonna do it! (to Horton) Can they hear?

(Most of the Whos stop after realizing it's not louder enough) (to JoJo)

No matter what happens, I couldn't ask for better, son. (Because of his father's advice, he takes the horn and runs through the stairs) Hey, JoJo? (To the Whos) Come on! Keep going!

(Crying)

Nooo.

JoJo McDodd
(As they reach the top of the stairs, JoJo lets out a really big noise through the horn)

Y-Y-Y-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-P-P-P!!!!
(She drops it. But the Rudy he grabbed and i caught it)

(He looks up to see some Angela Glummox, Jessica Quilligan, Thomas "Tommy" Cow-Bear and Katie the Yak)

Good morning, class. Are you ready?

Yeah!

Jump on board!

(The strange jungle animals drop down onto his back.) (offscreen)

Look out below! (He lands hardly on Horton’s back.)

Tommy’s on board. Katie, you there?

(lands on his back)

Ha-ah-a.

Okay. (The kind elephant escorts the kids to a lush tree, then stops.) Shh. There it is. (refers to a leaf on a twig) This is one of the jungle's most amazing creatures. The leaf bug. In order to protect itself from predators, it disguises itself as a leaf. (He pokes at it, with no response from the leaf. And then he climbs on the tree and tries to pull it off.) This one's got quite a deep grip. Come on, little buddy! Don't be shy! (He falls back from the tree.) I guess I was mistaken, kids. (leaf bugs were all over him) There are obviously no leaf bugs in this area. Even if they're... (notices the leaf bugs) OH! THEY’RE ON ME!! (rolls around) Get them off! (accidentally sucks up a leaf bug, which gags in disgust, and bangs his head) I think I swallowed one. (He blows his trunk, and slams it on the ground, trying to get the bug out, before turning to Tommy.) Tommy! PULL IT OUT!!!

(unsure)

Uh... okay.

(The animal kids pull on Horton’s trunk and he swings them around. Meanwhile, a purple kangaroo and her son were hopping through the jungle of Nool.)

Then, hopping a “humph!" was Sour Kangaroo,
the type who's convinced(buffalo-like animal from species of Yawling Yak notices Sour approaching and hides in the grass) she knows better than you.
(A Deer-whose-horns-are-connected-from-one-to-the-other full of chicken-like birds from species of Sala-ma-gooxes sees Sour coming as the birds on the Deer-whose-horns-are-connected-from-one-to-the-other's antlers flied off while the mammal hides in the water.) She made every law and then forced every rule
as self-proclaimed head of the Jungle of Nool. (Sour humphed when she sees the kids try to get the bug out of Horton. Her son, Rudy, looks at them in confusion.)

Why can't I play with the other kids. Mom?

How many times have I told you that the jungle is no place to act like a wild animal?
(The young animals then flew into the bushes and Horton spits out the leaf bug. As it tries to fly, Katie catches it with her tongue and eats it like a frog. Jessica's and Angela's mothers look at it and talk to Sour)
Mrs. Glummox (amused): My, that Horton certainly is eccentric.
Mrs. Quilligan (pointing at Horton): And that children are learning so much from him.
(Sour looks at her angrily) Sour Kangaroo (sarcastically): Learning to be a bunch a hairbrain half-wits. (proudly; she pats his son on the head) And that's why my Rudy is pouch-schooled.

So, while Kangaroo stood there sneering a sneer...

Horton, that was the best time I've ever had in my life! What are you gonna show us next?! (Soon, a speck arrived near Horton.)

Once again the speck floated right by Horton's ear.

Speck

Help!

And he heard it again! Just a very faint yelp,
as if some tiny person were calling for help.

(He imagines a helpless Who hanging onto the speck in Dr. Seuss illustration, then cuts back to Horton.)

And you know what he thought? What he thought there must
be someone on top of that small speck of dust.
Or even a family. It just might be so.
A family with children just starting to grow.

Who-Boy
(He then imagines a helpless Who family hanging onto the speck.)

I WANNA LIVE!

(Out of his thought, Horton decides to quickly save that speck.)

Uh… i gotta go! Katie, you’re in charge! (He runs off)

(As he runs off. Katie she opens her mouth to release the leaf bug, which chases after the other kids, who run away from it. Soon, Horton ran pass the mothers.)

Wait! Come back.

Wickershams
(Cuts to chimpanzee-like apes of the species The Wickersham as they are chanting for Yummo Wickersham)

One more, one more, One more, one more.
(Yummo Wickersham has a bunch of bananas in his mouth, managing to fit one more as one of the bananas stick out their nose, splitting open, and they all cheer. Cuts to the two Yummo's younger brothers named Nuts and Nits at the top of the tree)

Nits Wickersham

Hear someone coming!

Nuts Wickersham

Get me those!

(He takes the bananas and can see Horton running by the bananas, blocking his view.)

Wait!

Nuts Wickersham

Sound the alarm!
(Nits Wickersham reaches higher into the tree and grabs another Wickersham's leg, biting it and causing them to scream out in pain, alerting the other Wickershams of Horton's presence.)

Excuse me! Pardon my stampede!

(The Wickershams are flung above the trees)

Sorry, Wickershams. I promise I'm gonna clean all this up later!

Bring the ammo!
(Two Wichershams by his sides grab some bananas with a mischievous chuckle, and stick them under Yummo's armpits, and in slow motion, shows as he crushes the bananas with his armpits, like a minigun. Then back to real motion to show how fast the bananas are being launched at Horton.)

I love the smell of the bananas in the morning.

Wickersham
(The Wickershams reveal from the leaf tree to show a big ball that's made of bananas)

Banana in the Hole!

(The big banana ball is being launched at Horton.)

Come on, guys! We're all mammals! (in slow-motion) Woah! (As Henry Kissinger) I feel the diplomatic process is beginning to break down. (In regular motion, he slips through a pile of banana peels, sliding through until he sees that speck) There you are. I got ya. I got ya. (He tries to get that speck with his trunk, but to no rescue; while running after the speck) Hi, kids.
