[Chuckles explains his story about Lotso to Woody]
Yeah, I knew Lotso. He was a good toy, a friend. Me and him, we had the same kid: Daisy. I was there when Lotso got unwrapped. Daisy loved us all. But Lotso was special. They did everything together. You've never seen a kid and a toy more in love. One day we took a drive. Hit a rest stop. Had a little playtime. After lunch, Daisy fell asleep. She never came back. Lotso wouldn't give up. It took forever but we finally made it back to Daisy's. But by then, it was too late. Something changed that day inside Lotso. Something snapped. [remembers flashback]
L Lotso
She replaced us. Come on.
C Chuckles
No. She only replaced you.
L Lotso
[turns to Chuckles threateningly]
She replaced all of us! Didn't she?! [grabs Big Baby as he tries to get to the window] She don't love you no more! [rips off Big Baby's name tag and throws it] Now, come on!
C Chuckles
[narrates]
We were lost. Cast off, unloved, unwanted. Then we found Sunnyside. But Lotso wasn't my friend anymore. [back to the present] He wasn't anyone's friend. He took over Sunnyside and rigged the whole system.
C Chuckles
I got broke. Bonnie found me, took me home. Other toys weren't so lucky. It ain't right what Lotso done. New toys, they don't stand a chance.
L Lotso
[Lotso and his gang are about to push Woody and his friends into the dumpster; all the while the garbage truck is halfway there]
I didn't throw you away. Your kid did. Ain't one kid ever loved a toy, really. Chew on that when you're at the dump. [turns away and starts to walk off]
L Lotso
[stops with an angry look behind]
I don't know what you're talkin' about.
Daisy? You used to do everything with her?
L Lotso
Yeah. Then she threw us out.
She replaced you! And if you couldn't have her, then no one could! You lied to Big Baby, and you've been lyin' ever since! [holds up Big Baby's "Daisy" nametag]
L Lotso
[sees the nametag and is stunned with anger]
Where'd you get that?
L Lotso
She never loved me!
As much as any kid ever loved a toy. [tosses the tag across the dumpster; Big Baby picks it up]
L Lotso
[snatches the tag]
What?! You want your mommy back? She never loved you! Don't be such a baby! [crushes it with his cane] Push 'em in! All of 'em! [Stretch hesitantly starts to push Woody and his friends in the dumpster] This is what happens when you dummies try to think! We're all just trash, waitin' to be thrown away! That's all a toy is. [Big Baby suddenly lifts him up; his cane drops out of his paws] Hey! Stop it! Put me down you idiot! [Big Baby throws him into the dumpster] No! Wait a minute! Big Baby, wait! [Big Baby slams the lid]
We go back to Andy's. Anybody see an exit?
Exit schmexit. Let's get played with.
B Buzz
Careful. These toys might be jealous of new arrivals.
[pushing past]
I want to see!
JI Jack-in-the-Box
[Rex is in such a rush to see what is happening, that he causes the box to fall off the counter and onto the floor, spilling the toys out. Everyone looks to see the toys in the room staring at them]
NEW TOYS!
[Butterfly Room toys cheering. The toys go to greet the newcomers. Jessie shakes the hand of a rock monster named Chuck]
Well, howdy! Glad to meet ya!
B Buzz
[shaking hands with a robot named Sparks]
Buzz Lightyear, at your service.
[Hamm, Slinky and Barbie are shaking hands with a purple octopus named Stretch] [chuckles]
Boy, oh, boy, oh, boy.
[Rex laughs. A bug with armour on him help Mrs. Potato Head stand up]
Oh, thank you. May I? [giggles]
[The bug allows her to touch his muscles, making Mr. Potato Head a little jealous. He tried to flex his own muscles but it flopped down much to his dismay. A crane passed the Aliens]
The claw!
L Lotso
[Everyone then heard a truck's horn and they look to see a yellow truck reverse into view, carrying the bear the girl had been playing with earlier. He's carrying a cane] [first words]
Well, hello there. [gets out of the dumper] I thought I heard new voices. Welcome to Sunnyside, folks. I'm Lots-O'-Huggin' Bear. But please call me Lotso.
B Buzz
Buzz Lightyear. We come in...
L Lotso
First thing you gotta know about me, I'm a hugger. Look at you all. You've been through a lot today, haven't ya?
L Lotso
Well, you're safe now. We're all castoffs here. We been dumped, donated, yard-saled, secondhanded and just plain thrown out. But just you wait, you'll find being donated was the best thing that ever happened to ya.
Mr. Lotso, do toys here get played with every day?
L Lotso
All day long! Five days a week.
But what happens when the kids grow up?
L Lotso
Well now, I'll tell you.
L Lotso
[Lotso walks over to a wall with class photos from past years]
When the kids get old, new ones come in. When they get old, new ones replace them. You'll never be outgrown, or neglected. Never abandoned or forgotten. No owners means - no heartbreak!
And you wanted us to stay at Andy's!
Because we're Andy's toys!
L Lotso
[walks over]
So you got donated by this "Andy", huh? Well it's his loss, Sheriff. He can't hurt you no more.
L Lotso
Now let's get you settled in.
Far out! Down in a jiff, Lotso. [goes down the elevator] So, who's ready for Ken's dream tour?
L Lotso
Let's show our new friends where they'll be staying!
Uh, folks, if you'll just want to step right this way... [he sees Barbie] Hi, I'm Ken.
Barbie. Have we ever met?
I would have remembered. [she laughs] Love your leg wamers!
L Lotso
Come on, Ken, recess don't last forever.
Right on, Lotso. This way everybody.
L Lotso
Got a lot to look forward to, folks. The little ones love new toys.
And he smells like strawberries.
L Lotso
Ken, what's going on here? Why is this toy tied up?
L Lotso
"Got out"? No, no, no, no, no. This isn't how we treat our guests. F-A-Oh, my Schwarz. There you go. I'm so sorry.
B Buzz
Lotso, there's been a mistake.
B Buzz
The children in the Caterpillar Room are not age-appropriate for me and my friends. We respectfully request a transfer to the Butterfly Room.
L Lotso
Well, request granted!
L Lotso
Hush now, Kenneth. This toy showed initiative, leadership. Why I'd say, we have ourselves a keeper. You hear that? We got a keeper! [Lotso's gang cheers in delight] We're calling you up to the big leagues, son. From now on, you'll have anything you want.
B Buzz
Excellent. I'll go get my friends.
L Lotso
Whoa, Whoa. Hold on there, Boss man. Those Caterpillar kids need someone to play with.
B Buzz
But my friends don't belong there.
L Lotso
Oh, none of us do, I agree. Which is why, for the good of our community, we ask the newer toys, the stronger ones, to take one the hardships the rest of us can't bear anymore.
B Buzz
Well, I... I guess that makes sense. But I can't accept. We're a family. We stay together.
L Lotso
[icily]
Family man, huh? I understand. [to Big Baby] Put him back in the timeout chair!
B Buzz
What are you... Unhand me!
L Lotso
Lightyear, explain our overnight accommodations.
B Buzz
Sir, yes, sir! Prisoners sleep in their cells. Any prisoner caught outside their cells spends the night in the box. Roll call at dusk and dawn. Any prisoner misses roll call spends the night in the box. Prisoners do NOT speak unless spoken to. Any prisoner talks back spends the night...
[snappily]
In the BOX. We GET it.
L Lotso
[Buzz runs out at Jessie, but Lotso stops him with his cane]
At ease Soldier!
Woah-woah, hey listen. If any of you guys ever get to Sunnyside Daycare, you tell them Woody made it home.
D Dolly
You came from Sunnyside?!
T Trixie
But, how did you escape?!
Well, it wasn't easy... what do you mean, escape?

Sunnyside is a place of ruin and despair, ruled by an evil bear who smells of strawberries.
B Buttercup
The guy may seem plush and huggable on the outside, but inside, he's a monster.

[Stretch finds Woody and his friends, while Twitch and Sparks hit a badly damaged Chatter Telephone from up the wall]
I'm sorry, cowboy... [Woody gasps in horror] They broke me.
L Lotso
What are you all doing? Running back to your kid? He don't want you no more.
L Lotso
Is it? Tell me this, sheriff. If your kid loves you so much, why is he leaving? You think you're special, cowboy? You're a piece of plastic, you were made to be thrown away! [hears beeping] Speak of the devil. [notices a garbage truck in the distance, as Jessie gasps in horror] Now, we need toys in our caterpillar room, and you need to avoid that truck. Say, why don't you come on back, join our family again?
This isn't a family, it's a prison! You're a liar and a bully! And I rather rot in this dumpster than join any "family" of yours!
Jessie's right! Authority should derive from the consent of the governed, not from the threat of force!
L Lotso
If that's what you want.
[Lotso and his gang are about to push Woody and his friends into the dumpster; all the while the garbage truck is halfway there]
Barbie, wait! Don't do this, Lotso!
L Lotso
[turns to Ken threatingly]
She's a Barbie doll, Ken! There's a hundred million, just like her!
Not to me, there's not. [Barbie gasps in relief]
L Lotso
Fine! Then why don't you join them?! [picks up Ken and throws him into Andy's toys]
Everyone, listen! Sunnyside can be cool and groovy if we treated each other fair! It's Lotso! He's made us into a pyramid, and he put himself on top!
L Lotso
Anyone concur with Ken? [the garbage truck gets closer] I didn't throw you away, your kid did! Ain't one kid ever loved a toy, really. Chew on that when you're at the dump! [turns away and starts to walk off]
L Lotso

[Big Baby blows a raspberry at Lotso]
