GZ Gene Zebrowski
[As Judy and Nick leave the ZPD building, the other officers mock them for destroying Ebenezer Lynxley's statue] [mockingly]
Look, everybody! Roll out the red carpet, here's the Super Cops! Woo!
H Higgins
Ça marche! Allonzi!
SC Sheep cop
Fox and bunny!
GZ Gene Zebraxton
Hey, what does the fox say? You suck!
Nick
[Upon realizing Zebraxton insulted Nick, Judy tries to confront him about it.] [fondly pushes Judy away]
Easy, partner. [leaves the building with Judy] Let me ask you somethin': Do you think we're a good team?
Judy
Of course! I just... I just wish I knew what we had to do to prove it to everyone else.
Nick
Or... maybe we don't have to prove anything to anybody.
Judy
[Judy and Nick look behind them, seeing the ZPD officers still taunting them from behind the door.]
Hm... [smiles] We do. Forever. [throws a "Partnership for Dummies" book to Nick]
Nick
[catches the book]
Oof! [gazes at the book curiously]
Judy
And the sooner everyone [as Nick gazes at her] sees a fox and a bunny can be great partners, the better. [walks away as Nick amorously gazes at the book] Enjoy it! I got two!
Nick
[singing]
I'd rather chew off my own arm.
Judy
[waving from a distance]
Happy anniversary!
[Nick stares at the book Judy gave him, scoffing softly as he leaves]
Nick
[As Pawbert leaves the control room after betraying Judy and Gary, he hears Nick climbing the stairs and follows him.] [off-screen]
Judy? [looks around the corridors] Judy? [looks down] Nibbles, do you see her?
Nibbles
[holding a flashlight]
No, nothin' yet.
Nick
[In the control room, Judy struggles to crawl to the door.] [through the monitor]
Judy?
Gary
[from outside; shivering]
We shall... succeed, Judy Hopps.
Pawbert
[Judy briefly looks at Gary before continuing to crawl. Outside the control room, Nibbles stumbles upon Pawbert.] [pretends to surrender]
It's okay. Judy sent me. She... needs to find Nick. [injects Nibbles with snake venom]
Nibbles
[unamused]
Yep. Should've seen that comin'. [faints]
Nick
[Pawbert walks over Nibbles as he reloads his venom injector.] [off-screen]
Judy?
Judy
[Back in the control room, Judy is still struggling to reach the door. On the monitors, Nick is climbing the stairs as Pawbert follows him.] [struggling to crawl]
Nick...
Gary
[off-screen]
We... shall... succeed,... [Judy struggles to reach for the door, but collapses] Judy.
Judy
[weakly]
I can't... move... and [looks at Gary] you're too... cold... to help... [off-screen] And he's gonna... Nick's gonna...
Gary
[Thinking Judy is outside, Nick swings the steel door open. Once outside, Nick shields his eyes from the blizzard, looking for Judy.] [off-screen]
Judy,... the world... was never meant... to be... on one animal's... shoulders...
Gary
[As he turns around, Nick is confronted by Pawbert. Nick warily backs away upon seeing the venom injector in Pawbert's paw.] [crawling to Judy]
That's why... my great-grandma... wanted... Zootopia... [Judy sees Pawbert confronting Nick] to be... for everyone,... so we could... all... help each-other.
Judy
[tears up; guilty]
I... didn't... help.
Gary
[Outside, Nick is still backing away from Pawbert.] [off-screen]
You did. [slowly crawling] You chose... to help me... and became... my... best warm-blooded... friend. [touches Judy with his tail; his eyes glow] Very warm. [senses Judy's body heat; smiles] Permission... to hug?
Gary
[When Judy weakly nods "yes", Gary softly coils around her as the ice crystals on his scales start melting thanks to Judy's body heat, restoring him.] [sees Pawbert with his fanny bag through the monitor]
We're gonna save you and save your friend. [Judy smiles, then passes out; worried] Judy? [officers Higgins, Chévre, and Bücheron enter the control room] Aah!
OH Officer Higgins
[points at Gary in fright]
Hey, he's gonna eat that rabbit!
Gary
[panicked]
No, wait! [backing away] I-I'm saving her! I'm gonna get her the anti-pen!
Nibbles
[At the Marsh Market, Judy and Nick are walking with Nibbles to the dock to take a ferry to get to the reptile hideout.]
Just let me handle the locals. Water folk tend to be a little standoffish around landies.
Nick
Yeah, well, I've been hustling the streets since I was twelve. I think I can handle a juggling seal.
Nibbles
[A sea lion juggler who is nearby gives Nick an annoyed look.]
Sea lion. [to the sea lion juggler] He's not from around here.
Nick
But coin's a coin. [drops a coin into the sea lion's bucket]
Nibbles
Oh no, change... [takes out the coin from the bucket with a sign says, "No change, only fish"] is a choking hazard.
Nick
Well, [pats on the sea lion’s flipper] honest mistake.
Nibbles
[The sea lion juggler roars at him.] [chuckles; points to a sign that says, "Do not touch."]
Do not do that!
Judy
Let's let Nibbles handle this.
Nibbles
[ushers Judy and Nick down the dock as the sea lion glares]
Thank you, Judith.
Nibbles
[At the reptile hideout, an iguana server sets down a plate full of worms.]
Oh, I'm good, [pushes the plate towards Judy and Nick] but these guys look hungry.
Judy
Thank you for meeting with us. We believe snakes were framed for something in this journal, perhaps pertaining to—
JS Jesús
Eat first, talk second.
JS Jesús
[So Nick and Judy eats worms. Judy ate the small one, and Nick ate the long one.] [to the reptiles]
Hey, guys! They ate it! [laughs as the other reptiles laugh and cheer] Look at their faces! I don't eat grubs! [takes the plate and puts it on a waiter's plate] Hermano, get me a scone! [Nick glares at Judy, who chuckles nervously] Okay, okay. [picks up the journal and inspects it] Hmm... Metal cover.
Judy
And what does that mean?
JS Jesús
It means... [places his foot on the table] it's fancy. [stretches his toes, much to Nick's disgust] It also means the secret you're looking for is probably right on the cover. Somehow, vipers can see things in the metal, even under the paint. [slides the journal back to Judy]
Judy
This is Ebenezer Lynxley's original journal for the weather walls. Why would he hide a secret... for a snake?
JS Jesús
I don't know, but it must've been big... 'cause a tortoise died for it.
Nick
I am guessing that it was... a slow death.
JS Jesús
[Jesús and Judy glare at Nick, with Judy trying not to laugh, and Nibbles groans in frustration]
The fanging didn't just change how folks saw snakes. No mammal trusted any reptile after that. [looks at a few newspaper clippings on the wall about whether or not mammals should trust reptiles] That's why we all left, and that's when the Lynxleys expanded Tundratown the first time. [sadly] And it's happening again. The expansion is going here. Marsh Market will be buried in snow. We'll all get pushed out. Those lynxes will get more land, and there's no way to stop 'em.
Judy
[looks at the journal and picks it up]
What if the secret hidden in here could?
JS Jesús
Then I would say: Holding it... puts the two of you in grave danger.
FC French Chef
[During the chase scene at the Lynxley Manor, a lion chef's hat is knocked off, revealing a rat/mouse controlling him by pulling his mane.] [gasps; points at the lion]
I knew it!
[Gary races down a hallway with Milton and the Lynxley journal, with Judy trying to stop him, but the viper turns the corner while Judy loses her balance as she slips. Gary drags Milton into his study, where a huge fireplace is burning, muffles him, and puts the encased journal in front of him, engaging a large retina scanner. To unlock it, Milton's eye is scanned, unlocking the case, but before Gary can take the journal out, Judy kicks the door open and catches up with them in the study]
Judy
[determined to arrest Gary]
Stop! [part of her dress covers her head]
Gary
[whimpers with fright as he recoils in fear]
Judy
[fixes her dress]
Please, you don't have to hurt him. [Gary becomes stunned to hear what she said]
Gary
Hurt him? Snakes... never hurt anyone. [Judy starts listening to him] We aren't the bad guys. [points to Milton] They are. [Judy turns confused, not knowing whose side to be on; grabs the journal out of the container] And this journal holds the secret that will prove it. I have to prove it. Please. [Judy's ears droop in surprise] This is our only chance to set things right. And when I do, my family will finally be able to come home. [gets knocked out by a frying pan from Nick, who didn't hear the situation]
Judy
[gasps]
Oh, no!
Nick
Ha! I am here! [Gary collapses, uncoiling Milton and the journal] Hopps and Wilde. [chuckles] Dream team. We got him. Or her. Reptiles. It's like, who knows? [chuckles as Milton recovers and grabs the journal]
K Kitty
[barges in with Cattrick, who locks the door behind them]
The cops are right behind us.
Milton
[darkly; to Kitty and Cattrick]
Kill the snake. [Nick and Judy turn to him in horror as he and his children start to approach] We'll burn the journal. If he wants it, it's dangerous. [to Judy and Nick] And then you two will file a report that he attacked us, and you will keep your mouths shut. [retracts his claws, scaring Judy and Nick] Step aside. [Cattrick and Kitty retract their claws, too. Before Nick can react, Judy kicks a fire poker, catapulting out flaming coal and igniting a tapestry, causing Milton, Cattrick, and Kitty to step back] Put out the fire!
PM Peter Moosebridge
[Exiting the Reptile Ravine clocktower while reporters and photographers surround the scene.] [on ZNN broadcast]
Astonishing news today, after Officers Judy Hopps and Nicholas Wilde, along with a pit viper and a beaver, foiled another major conspiracy by revealing the true inventor of the city's weather walls was a snake.
FG Fabienne Growley
[shows footage of the Lynxley family being arrested and handcuffed by the ZPD, and escorted by Bloats, Higgins, and McHorn]
While the now-disgraced Lynxley family were revealed to have stolen the original plans and covered it up for decades.
Milton
[walks into the back of the Razorbacks' truck with his three kids; tries to hold court]
You have not heard the last of Milton Lyn-
PM Peter Moosebridge
[Judy and Nick shuts the SWAT truck doors and do an bump fists] [voiceover]
Their Tundratown expansion now officially canceled.
[At the Marsh Market, the residents watch the news broadcast on TV and cheer.]
Nick
[In Flash's car, Nick is calling Clawhauser at the ZPD by phone to track Judy's location.]
I cannot help Judy if I don't know where she is, which is why I need you [off-screen] to get on Paul's computer and track Hoggbottom.
C Clawhauser
[whispering]
You are an escaped fugitive! I could get fired for even talking to you.
Nick
[desperately]
They're gonna put her to sleep! [off-screen] Do it!
C Clawhauser
Okay! [sees a box of donuts and gasps in delight]
P Paul
[typing on his computer]
Did you try restarting it? Mhm. Have you tried not being an idiot?
C Clawhauser
[whispers; holding a box of donuts]
Hey, Paul, I got you some donuts. [trips over the soda can and drops the box on Paul] Oh, no!
OM Officer McHorn
[grabs the box of donuts]
Thanks, Clawhauser!
Nick
[off-screen]
Clawhauser! Location...?!
Pawbert
[Clawhauser reaches for Paul's computer, which has a screensaver on and requires a password. Clawhauser grabs the sticky note on the computer with the password "P@Rt3izFr&BrdZr2" written on it, much to his dismay as he struggles to read it. Pawbert, Judy, and Gary arrive in front of the Burning Mammal festival] [frustrated]
Oh, no... I think we're gonna have to go through the festival. [hops off his motorcycle with Judy and Gary]
Judy
Festival?
Judy
[Judy, Gary, and Pawbert turn around, seeing the ZPD closing in, much to Judy's shock] [snatches Pawbert's phone]
The phone's the first thing they track. [destroys the phone and jumps into the motorcycle with Pawbert and Gary] Go, go!
Nick
[Judy, Gary, and Pawbert descend into Burning Mammal as the ZPD chases them. Nick and Nibbles are still in the back seats of Flash's car] [impatiently]
Clawhauser!
C Clawhauser
[typing on Paul's computer]
I am working on it! [logs in] Got it!
Nick
[through phone]
Great! Great, great. Now...
C Clawhauser
[A captcha page pops up, saying "click everything that's cheese" as images pop up] [frustrated]
No!
Gary
[At the Burning Mammal festival, Judy, Gary, and Pawbert run their way through an animal crowd]
What festival is this?
Y Yax
[A moose lights a sign saying, "Burning Mammal" as Judy, Gary, and Pawbert run through more animals] [strips his clothes]
Oh, yeah!
GZ Gene Zebraxton
[While DJ Lemmens play music, Judy looks back, seeing the Zebros chasing them]
Move, move, move!
GZ Gene Zebraxton
[The Zebros run after Judy, Gary, and Pawbert as the three enter into a tent, where they find Gazelle and her tiger dancers, which they noticed, though, and see the Zebros coming after them]
Come on! Go, go, go!
Gazelle
[leans down to Judy]
We are with you, Judy Hopps.
Z Zebros
[Judy, Gary, and Pawbert race out of the tent through the back flap] [arrogantly] (We got you now, Bunny-loser!) [barge in the tent]
HA! [notices Gazelle is in front of them] Huh?
Gazelle
We meet again, zebra. [the tiger dancers grin mischievously, the Zebros become horrified, before they can escape, the tigers grab them by their shirts, and drag the Zebros to beat up]
Z Zebros
Whoa! [the tiger dancers starts to beat the Zebros up]
Gazelle
Here come the horns! [body slams on Zebraxton and Zebrowski]
F Dr. Fuzzby
[In Partners In Crisis, Dr. Fuzzby asks Nick and Judy.] [off-screen]
Some are calling you the dream team. How did you do it?
Nick
[Judy motions to Nick; Nick starts to speak as the scene changes]
Uh, well, there's a lot of [voiceover; Jesús shopping in Sheepshire.] different animals out there, and sometimes we start to look at [In prison, Pawbert stares out his cell as Milton, Cattrick, and Kitty argue with each other behind him. Gramma Taller, Big Tig, and Tuffy Cheeksworth look at Pawbert menacingly, and his eyes widen in shock.] all the little reasons that we're not the same. And it makes us worry. [At the ceremony, Mayor Winddancer presents Judy and Nick with medals, as the rest of the ZPD watch impressed.] But maybe if we just talked to each other, if we just tried to understand one another, [Judy, Nick, Gary, and Clawhauser visit Chief Bogo, who is recovering, in the hospital. They present him with a drawing with an apology note that says "Sorry I fanged you -Gary" and a box of donuts (with Paul still stuck in one). Bogo reluctantly shows his appreciation and takes a donut.] We would see that our differences don't really make any difference at all. [Gary reopens the new section of Zootopia, Raptile Ravine, which is now fully defrosted and restored, with a brand new golden statue of Agnes De'Snake. Judy, Nick, Nibbles, Mayor Winddancer, and a crowd of reptiles and mammals applaud. Nibbles hugs Gary as he high-fives both Judy and Nick with his tail.] Maybe we'd even see that what makes me me, and you you, [back to the Partners In Crisis; on-screen] can make us even stronger. And with hard work, you're gonna get to that by year two!
Z Zebros
[Dr. Fuzzby and the ZPD officers, including Captain Hoggbottom and the Zebros, clap for Nick and Judy.] [whispers; bumping hooves]
Zebros.
GZ Gene Zebrowski
Actually, my name is Gene.
GZ Gene Zebraxton
My name [sniffles] is also Gene.
Z Zebros
[butt heads]
ZEBROS!
[In the Desert Dunes, located in Sahara Square, Pawbert leads Judy and Gary to his tent on his motorcycle.]
Pawbert: [in a pirate accent] Almost to me hideout. [chuckles, driving toward a tent on a small dune] Snake in the hole.
Gary
Ooo! Yeah, yeah. [slithers in the sidecar, where Judy is in]
Judy
[surprised]
Oh! [Gary pulls her down to hide by pushing his tail on her head] Oh.
Gary
We shall succeed, Judy Hopps. We'll stop the lynxes and save your partner. [taps Judy's nose gently with his tail]
Judy
I'm sorry, you are...?
Gary
Oh! [gestures to himself] Gary. Gary De'Snake.
Judy
And your last name?
Gary
De'Snake. [Judy nods in realization] Everything is gonna be okay.
Judy
[Judy and Nick are closing in on Pawbert as he reaches the clock tower, when a chasm tears open between them.]
I'm gonna jump! [leaps outside the snow cat, ready to do so, but...]
Nick
[playfully grabs her paw]
Zoogetherness! Huh? [serious] No, never mind. Forget I said it; here we go! [leaps off the snow cat with Judy, knocking the gasoline and matches away from Pawbert]
Pawbert
[frantically digging in the snow]
Matches, matches, matches, matches!
Judy
[When Pawbert finds the matchbox, it suddenly vanishes in the snow, much to his surprise.] [pops out of the hole]
Bunnies... we're burrowers. Rabbit kick! Hyah! [kicks at Pawbert, allowing Nick to trip him, then fist bumps Nick]
Pawbert
[However, Pawbert emerges from the snow, growling and grinning evilly, as he pounces on Nick and Judy and strangles them, ready to tear them apart.] [insanely]
I'll destroy the patent, that town, and everything in it. And a dirtbag fox and a [pushes Judy's head deeper in the snow] dumb bunny will never stand in my way!
Nick
[Nick and Judy briefly exchange glances before the former glares at Pawbert.] [under his breath; defensively]
She's not a dumb bunny and you're forgetting one thing...! [smirks]
Pawbert
[grinning]
What's that?
Nick
We're friends with a snake!
Gary
[arriving with Nibbles; coils Pawbert]
Howdy, partner! [hisses in Pawbert's ear as he shrieks]
F Dr. Fuzzby
[Judy and Nick are in Partners in Crisis with Dr. Fuzzby, the ZPD quokka therapist, and the other officers.]
Welcome to Partners in Crisis, a workshop for duos heading for disaster. [chuckles] I am your therapy animal, Dr. Fuzzby, and you are here because mismatched pairings often need a little more work to make them... work.
F Dr. Fuzzby
[An armadillo officer, Greg, is grooming his partner's fur, picking out bugs. His partner, Marlon Grizzby, is gesturing in a way showing he's uncomfortable.] [off-screen]
Greg, [Greg pauses] we talked about that.
F Dr. Fuzzby
[Greg stops grooming Marlon, sighing and groaning.]
What are we making Marlon? Uncomfortable. Yes.
F Dr. Fuzzby
[An elephant officer, Francine, screams when she see a mouse, Clark.]
And Francine, Clark may be a mouse, [on-screen] but he is your partner first.
F Dr. Fuzzby
[Officer Clark squeaks, and Francine hits her forehead.] [off-screen]
And we have two new “apart-ners.”
F Dr. Fuzzby
[All the officers look at Judy and Nick.] [to Judy]
Can you tell us about your journey to dysfunction junction?
Judy
[looks around awkwardly]
Well, we’ve been official partners for one week, [poking Nick] happy anni-versa-ry! And we're not dysfunctional at all, actually. Functioning fine - better than fine! And we did sorta save the city, so us being here kinda seems like a huge misunderstanding.
F Dr. Fuzzby
[nodding; to the rest of the group]
Notice how she answered first, did not allow her partner to speak, seems to be in a state of denial, [Judy looks at her disturbingly] and taps her foot when she's suppressing discomfort.
F Dr. Fuzzby
[Judy notices her foot is tapping and stops it. Nick smiles and chuckles] [notices]
And observe the source of her discomfort, represented by the disconnected affectation of her emotionally-insecure partner.
M Marlon
[Nick frowns as Judy smirks at him]
Oh...
F Dr. Fuzzby
But with hard work, they'll be on the same page by year two! [Judy and Nick stare confusedly] But for now, let's begin by greeting our teammate. Who'd like to go first? [Joel, an elk, raises his hoof] Thank you, Joel.
F Dr. Fuzzby
[Joel smiles at Karen, a honey badger, who proceeds to choke him]
Okay, unfortunately, Karen has chosen to see Joel's smile as a sign of aggression. [starts spraying] Hackles down, Karen. Karen, hackles down. [singing] Joel, the safe word is "coconut".
J Joel
[while Karen chokes him]
Coconut! Coconut!
[Nick and Judy exchange shocked looks]
B Bonnie
[Judy enters her apartment and muzzletimes her parents, Bonnie and Stu] [on videocall, calling Judy]
So, saw you on TV. You okay?
Judy
[closes the door with her foot]
Everything's fine, Mom.
S Stu
[via MuzzleTime]
Uh-oh, everyone knows "fine" is a cry for help. You know who else cried for help? That dik-dik stuck in that tuba.
B Bonnie
Oh, him and that dik-dik. What does your fox partner say?
Judy
[As the scene switches to Nick's apartment, where Nick is on the couch, popping open a jar of peanut butter. As Nick settles in to watch a Winddancer action movie, "The Neighsayer 2" on Huluzoo, he puts his feet on a coffee table and contents spill.] [voiceover]
Well, Nick’s not really a... talker.
B Bonnie
[voiceover; phone call]
Well, you two are very different. [Nick sits in his small apartment, looking at his "Partnership for DUMMIES" book, but doesn't use it to read it; instead, Nick uses it to balance his coffee table.] Small-town hero raised on a farm--
S Stu
[The scene switches back to Judy's apartment with Judy on her phone.] [on phone screen]
--big city crook raised on the streets.
GG Gram Gram
[as she grabs Stu's phone in the video call]
I pray every day that you’ll come back home and make babies!
S Stu
[after taking the phone from Gram Gram]
Just remember the first rule of partnerships: you can be right or you can be happy.
S Stu
There’s nothing wrong with dying a little inside so you can meet in the middle.
Judy
Guys--
B Bonnie
[as Stu pushes her out of the picture]
Okay honey, you’re pushing me out.
S Stu
I wanna make sure I can be seen.
B Bonnie
Well, if she could see both of us--
Judy
Okay! Gotta go! Work to do--
S Stu
Everything’s gonna be fine. You two just need a new case! Hey, maybe try to find that dik-dik!
Judy
[starting to end the call]
Got it. Love you. Bye! [hangs up]
