Kate: Esther, what are you doing?
Esther: I always lock the door.
Kate: Nope. We don't lock doors in this house.

[Kate's cell phone is ringing, Kate wakes up and answers it.]
Kate: Hello?
Dr. Varava: Is this Kate Coleman? [small pause] Hello?
Kate: Yeah, this is she.
Dr. Varava: My name is Dr. Varava. I'm calling from the Saarne Institute. I've just seen the picture you e-mailed.
Kate: And do you recognize her?
Dr. Varava: Where is she right now? Is she someplace where she can hear you?
Kate: No, she's not with me. She's with my husband at home---
Dr. Varava: Call your husband right now, and tell him to get your family out of the house. Then call the police.
Kate: He won't listen to me. Why?
Dr. Varava: Then tell him the little girl in the picture, is not really a little girl. She is a grown woman.
Kate: What? What are you talking about? The picture I sent you is of our adopted daughter, and she's 9 years old.
Dr. Varava: No, she's not. She has a rare hormone disorder. It's called hypopituitarism, it causes proportional dwarfism. She only looks like a child. [checks on the records] According to our records, Leena Klammer was born in 1976. She's 33 years old.
[Kate gets up and dresses up in her normal clothing]
Kate: This can't be. This is a mistake.
Dr. Varava: I hope so, for your sake. Does she have the scars?
Kate Coleman: What? I don't know. What scars?
Dr. Varava: Leena was one of our most violent patients. When she was here, she was kept in a straitjacket to stop her from hurting our staff. She was constantly fighting to get out. It cut into her skin and left her with scars around her wrists and neck. There is no way you could not have seen them.
[Kate rushes through the hospital.]
Kate: Why was she at your hospital?
Dr. Varava: She's dangerously ill, violent. She killed seven people that we know of.
Kate: Oh, my God. How could she fool us?
Dr. Varava: She has been passing herself off as a little girl for most of her life. She tricked a family here in Estonia into adopting her. When she couldn't seduce the father, she killed him and his whole family.
Kate: Then she burned the house down?
Dr. Varava: Yes. How did you know? She disappeared a year ago, and we lost track of her. If it's really Leena, you don't have much time.
[Kate uses the stairs and gets out of the hospital.]

Natalie: I thought I'd be engaged by now. I thought by 23, I'd be married, maybe have a kid, corner office by day, entertaining at night. I was supposed to be driving a Grand Cherokee by now.
Alex: Well, life can underwhelm you that way.
Natalie: Where did you think you'd be by now?
Alex: It doesn't work that way. At a certain point, you stop with the deadlines. It can be a little counter-productive.
Natalie: I don't want to say anything that is anti-feminist. I really appreciate everything that your generation did for me.
Alex: [drily] It was our pleasure.
Natalie: Sometimes it feels like, no matter how much success I have, it's not gonna matter until I find the right guy. I could have made it work. He really fit the bill, you know. White collar, 6'1, college grad, loves dogs, likes funny movies, brown hair, kind eyes, works in finance but is outdoorsy. I always imagined he'd have a single syllable name like Matt or John or Dave. In a perfect world, he drives a 4-Runner and the only thing he loves more than me is his golden lab. And a nice smile. What about you?
Alex: You know, honestly by the time you're 34, all the physical requirements just go out the window. You secretly pray that he'll be taller than you, not an asshole would be nice. Just someone who enjoys my company, comes from a good family. You don't think about that when you're younger. Someone who wants kids. Healthy enough to play with his kids. Please let him earn more money than I do, you might not understand that now but believe me, you will one day. Otherwise that's a recipe for disaster. And hopefully, some hair on his head. I mean, that's not even a deal breaker these days. A nice smile. Yeah, a nice smile just might do it.
Natalie: Wow. That was depressing.I should just start dating women
Alex: [sitting down] I tried it, we're no picnic ourselves.
Natalie: I don't mind being married to my career and I don't expect it to hold me in bed as I sleep, I just don't want to settle.
Alex: You're young, right now you see settling down as a failure.
Natalie: It is, by definition.
Alex: By the time someone is right for you it won't feel like settling and the only one to judge you will be the twenty three year old with the target on your back.

Alex: [going through each others wallets] Oh, my God. I wasn't sure this actually existed. This is the American Airlines...
Ryan: It's a Concierge Key, yeah.
Alex: What is that, carbon fibre?
Ryan: Graphite.
Alex: Oh, I love the weight.
Ryan: I was pretty excited the day that bad boy came in.
Alex: I'll say. I put up pretty pedestrian numbers. 60 thousand a year, domestic.
Ryan: That's not bad.
Alex: Don't patronize me. What's your total?
Ryan: It's a personal question.
Alex: Please.
Ryan: And we hardly know each other.
Alex: Come on, show some hubris. Come on, impress me. I bet it's huge.
Ryan: You have no idea.
Alex: How big? What is it, this big? This big?
Ryan: I don't want to brag.
Alex: Oh, come on! Come on.
Ryan: Let's just say I have a number in mind and I haven't hit it yet.
Alex: This is pretty **** sexy.
Ryan: Hope it doesn't cheapen our relationship.
Alex: We're two people who get turned on by elite status. I think cheap is our starting point.
Ryan: There's nothing cheap about loyalty.

Alex: [Over the phone] What were you thinking showing up at my door like that?
Ryan: I wanted to see you. I didn't know you had a family why wouldn't you tell me that?
Alex Goran: I'm sorry I ruined your evening but you could've seriously screwed things up for me. That's my family that's my real life.
Ryan: I thought I was a part of your life.
Alex: I thought we signed up for the same thing.
Ryan: Tell me what exactly you signed up for.
Alex: I thought our relationship was perfectly clear. You are an escape. You're a break from our normal lives. You're a parenthesis.
Ryan: I'm a parenthesis?
Alex: What do you want? Tell me what you want. [pause] You don't even know what you want. I'm a grown up, so if you'd like to see me again then give me a call.

[As Emma explains her actions to Mark and the rest of Monarch]
Dr. Emma Russell: And, uh...I can- I can only imagine what you are all thinking. But if there were any other way to do this, I would.
Mark Russell: Do what, Emma?
Dr. Emma Russell: I'm saving the world.
Mark Russell: By releasing those things? That doesn't make sense-
Dr. Emma Russell: As impossible as it seems, it does. Hear me out, Mark. After we lost Andrew, I swore his death would not be in vain. That I would find an answer. A solution to why the Titans were rising. But as I dug deeper, I realized that they were here for a reason, and that despite all the years trying to stop them, we never dared to confront the truth.
Mark Russell: Which truth?
Dr. Emma Russell: Humans have been the dominant species for thousands of years and look what's happened. Overpopulation. Pollution. War. The mass extinction we feared has already begun. And we are the cause. We are the infection. But like all organisms, the earth unleashed a fever to fight this infection. Its original and rightful rulers, the Titans. They are part of the earth's natural defense system, a way to protect the planet, to maintain its balance. But if governments are allowed to contain them, destroy them, or use them for war, the human infection will only continue to spread, and within our lifetime, our planet will perish...and so will we. Unless we restore balance.
Dr. Rick Stanton: And what's gonna to be left if you do this? A dead, charred world overrun by monsters?
Dr. Emma Russell: No, Dr. Stanton. The exact opposite. Just as how forest fire replenishes the soil or how a volcano creates new land, we have seen signs these creatures will do the same. San Francisco, Los Vegas, wherever the Titans go, life follows, triggered by their radiation. They are the only thing that can reverse the destruction that we started. They are the only guarantee that life will carry on. But for that to happen, we must set them free.
Dr. Ilene Chen: You're murdering the world.
Dr. Emma Russell: No. Because as difficult as this will be, I promise you mankind will not go extinct. Using the ORCA, we will return to a natural order. A forgotten order where we coexisted in balance with the Titans. The first gods.
Dr. Ishiro Serizawa: This is a dangerous path! You are meddling with forces beyond our comprehension, gambling with the lives of billions!
Dr. Emma Russell: And what are you gambling with, Serizawa? Monarch is broken. It's on the verge of being shut down by a government whose only objective is to eradicate the creatures, and if that happens, what will our chances be?
Mark Russell: You're out of your goddamned mind!!! First, you put our daughter's life in danger, now you decide the fate of the world. That's rich-!
Dr. Emma Russell: I couldn't be more sane, and Madison couldn't be stronger. After we lost Andrew, I trained her to survive, and at least now, she'll has a fighting chance!
Mark Russell: A fighting chanc-? Why don't you listen to yourself? It's not all math. Emma. Some things you can't control.
Dr. Emma Russell: And there are some things you can't run from!
Mark Russell: This won't bring him back to us.
Dr. Emma Russell: And, uh...I can- I can only imagine what you are all thinking. But if there were any other way to do this, I would.
