Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire quotes

[consoling Harry after he returns with Cedric's dead body while escaping from the graveyard]

It's all right, Harry. It's all right. He's home, you both are.

Welcome to the second task. Last night, something was stolen from each of our champions. A treasure of sorts. These four treasures, one for each champion, now lie on the bottom of the Black Lake. In order to win, each champion need only find their treasure and return to the surface. Simple enough, except for this: They will have but one hour to do so, and one hour only. After that, they'll be on their own. No magic will save them. You may begin at the sound of the cannon.

Ron
[Nigel offers Ron a parcel that was being delivered from his mother]

Oh, look, Mum sent me something. [unwraps the parcel and opens it, revealing a hideous brown garment] Mum sent me dress.

Well, it does match your eyes. Is there a bonnet? [pulls out a white bonnet from the parcel] Aha!

Ron

Nose down, Harry. [walks over to Ginny] Ginny, these must be for you.

I'm not wearing that. It's ghastly.

Ron
[to Hermione as she giggles]

What are you on about?

They're not for Ginny. They're for you. [Fred, George, and other Gryffindors laugh] Dress robes.

Ron

Dress robes? For what?

I won't be going alone, because believe it or not, someone's asked me! And I said yes!

Three of our champions have now faced their dragons, and so each one of them will proceed to the next task. And now our fourth and final contestant.

That's a Foe-Glass. Lets me keep an eye on my enemies. If I can see the whites of their eyes, they're standing right behind me. [laughs evilly] [the chest is thumping] Wouldn't even bother telling you what's in there. You wouldn't believe it if I did.

[Harry, Hermione, and the Weasleys leave the Burrow and walk into the woods with Arthur leading them]

Ron, where are we actually going?

Ron

Don't know. Hey, Dad! Where are we going?

Arthur

Haven't the foggiest. Keep up!

Amos
[They meet up with Amos Diggory]

Arthur! It's about time, son.

Arthur

Sorry, Amos. Some of us had a bit of a sleepy start. [Ron yawns] This is Amos Diggory, everyone. Works with me at the Ministry. [Cedric, Amos' son, drops down from a tree] And this strapping young lad must be Cedric, am I right?

Cedric
[shakes hands with him]

Yes, sir. This way.

Amos
[surprised when he meets Harry for the first time]

Merlin's beard! You must be Harry Potter.

Yes, sir.

Amos
[as he and Harry shake hands; honored]

Great, great pleasure.

Pleasure to meet you too, sir.

Amos
[The group walks toward a portkey in a grassy slope]

Yes, it's, uh, just over there.

Arthur

Shall we?

Amos

Oh, yeah.

Arthur

We don't wanna be late.

Amos

Come on. Nearly there now. Get yourself into a good position.

Why are they all standing around that manky old boot?

That isn't just any manky old boot, mate.

George

It's a Portkey.

Arthur

Time to go!

What's a Portkey?

James Potter

Harry, when the connection is broken you must get to the Portkey! We can linger for a moment to give you some time but only a moment. Do you understand?

Cedric

Harry. Take my body back, will you? Take my body back to my father.

Lily Potter

Let go. Sweetheart, you're ready. Let go... LET GO!

[breaks the connection and runs over to Cedric's body]

Accio! [summons the cup over to them, and in an instant, they transport out]

[enraged]

NOOOOOOOO!!!!

[after failing to ask out Fleur Delacour]

There she was, walking by. You know how I like it when they walk. I couldn't help it. It just sort of slipped out.

Cornelius Fudge

For God's sake, Dumbledore, what happened?!

[sobbing over Cedric's body]

He's back! He's back! Voldemort's back! Cedric, he asked me to bring his body back. I couldn't leave him... not there!

It's all right, Harry...it's all right. He's home, you both are.

Cornelius Fudge
[rushing over to Snape and McGonagall]

Keep everybody in their seats. A boy's just been killed. The body must be moved, Dumbledore. There are too many people.

Amos Diggory
[pushing his way frantically through the crowd, with Arthur Weasley following]

Let me through. LET ME THROUGH! Let me through. THAT'S MY SON! [starts bawling] THAT'S MY BOY! [falls on his knees and leans over Cedric's body, sobbing hysterically] IT'S MY BOY!!!!

[The crowd is heartbroken and shocked; Cho sobs in grief and despair] [pulling a sobbing Harry away from Cedric's body]

Come on! Get up! Easy! Easy! This is not where you want to be right now. Come on.

Amos Diggory
[As Harry is pulled out of the field, Dumbledore restrains Amos while Arthur tries to comfort him] [devastated]

No, no... NOOOOOO!!! [continues bawling and screaming]

[In the great hall speaking to the staff and students of his eulogy speech for Cedric Diggory]

Today, we acknowledge… a really terrible loss. Cedric Diggory was, as you all know, exceptionally hard-working, infinitely fair-minded, and most importantly, a fierce, fierce friend. Now I think, therefore, you (all) have the right to know exactly how he died. You see… Cedric Diggory was murdered… by Lord Voldemort! The Ministry of Magic does not wish me to tell you this, but not to do so, I think, would be an insult to his memory. Now, the pain we all feel at this dreadful loss reminds me... reminds us, that while we may come from different places, and speak in different tongues, our hearts beat as one. In light of recent events, the bonds of friendship we made this year will be more important than ever! You remember that, and Cedric Diggory will not have died in vain. You remember that, and we will celebrate a boy who was kind and honest and fair and true, right to the very end.
