The Yule Ball has been a tradition of the Triwizard Tournament since its inception. On Christmas Eve night, we and our guests gather in the Great Hall for well-mannered frivolity. As representatives of the host school, I expect each and every one of you to put your best foot forward. And I mean this literally, because the Yule Ball is, first and foremost… a dance.
The house of Godric Gryffindor has commanded the respect of the Wizarding World for nearly ten centuries, and I will not have you, in the course of a single evening, besmirching that name by behaving like a babbling, bumbling band of baboons.

What do you suggest, Minerva?
Put an end to it. Don't let Potter compete.
You heard Barty. The rules are clear.
Well, the devil with Barty. And his rules. And since when did you accomodate the Ministry?
Headmaster, I too find it difficult to believe this mere coincidince. However, if we are to truly discover the meaning of these events, perhaps we should, for the time being... let them unfold.
What? Do nothing? Offer him up as bait? Potter is a boy, not a piece of meat!
I agree... with Severus. Alastor, keep an eye on Harry, will you?
I can do that.
Don't let him know, though. He must be anxious enough as it is... knowing what lies ahead. Then again, we all are.
Professor Moody, what are you doing?
Teaching.
Is that a... Is that a student?
Technically, It's a ferret.
The house of Godric Gryffindor has been a beacon in the wizarding world for nearly ten centuries, and I will not have you besmirching it in one night by acting like a bumbling, babbling band of baboons.
Try saying that five times fast. [together] Bumbling, babbling band of baboons! Bumbling, babbling band of baboons! Bumbling... [Both walk off screen]
Inside every girl, a secret swan slumbers, longing to burst forth and take flight.
Something's about to burst out of Eloise Midgen, but I don't think it's a swan.
Why so tense, Potter? My father and I have a bet, you see. I don't think you're gonna last ten minutes in this tournament. [leaps from the tree] He disagrees. He thinks you won't last five! [laughs]
I don't give a damn what your father thinks, Malfoy! [angrily shoves him] He's vile, and cruel... and you're just pathetic. [Starts to walk away]
Pathetic?! [angrily draws his wand]
"Moody": OH NO, YOU DON'T, SONNY! [transfigures Draco into a ferret] I'll teach you to curse someone when their back is turned! [Proceeds to flick the ferret up and down] You stinkin'...cowardly...scummy...back-shootin'--
Professor Moody! Wha-what are you doing?!
"Moody": Teaching.
Is that a... Is that a student?!
"Moody": Technically, it's a ferret. [Proceeds to dump the ferret down Crabbe's trousers, to the delight of Cedric and some other students - Harry included!]
No! [Whimpers as the ferret slips down his trousers]
Stand still! Stand still! [Attempts to remove the ferret from Crabbe's trousers, only to be bitten]
My father will hear about this!
"Moody": Is that a threat?
Professor Moody--
"Moody": IS THAT A THREAT?!
Professor--
"Moody": I CAN TELL YOU STORIES ABOUT YOUR FATHER THAT WILL CURL EVEN YOUR GREASY HAIR, BOY!
Alastor!
"Moody": IT DOESN'T END HERE!
Alastor. We never use Transfiguration as a punishment! Surely, Dumbledore told you that?
"Moody": [sulkily] He might've mentioned it.
Well, you will do well to remember it. [She turns around before gesturing a group of students gathered nearby to leave] Away!
[as McGonagall walks away, "Moody" sticks his tongue out at her, behind her back] "Moody": [to Harry] You. Come with me.
