View Quote [First lines; in the present day, Ponyboy begins to write an essay, and we fade to the flashback]
Ponyboy: [voicecover] When I stepped out into the bright sunlight, from the darkness of the movie house, I had only two things on my mind: Paul Newman, and a ride home.

Gettysburg (1993) as Lt. Thomas Chamberlain

View Quote Lt. Thomas Chamberlain: The boys from the 2nd Maine are being fed, Lawrence.
Col. Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain: Ye- Don't call me Lawrence.
Lt. Thomas Chamberlain: Darn it, Lawrence, I'm your brother.
Col. Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain: Well, just be careful about the name business in front of the men, alright? Just because you're my brother- It looks like favoritism.
Lt. Thomas Chamberlain: God Almighty, General Meade's got his own son as his aide-de-camp.
Col. Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain: Well, that's different. Generals can do anything. Nothing quite so much like God on Earth as a general on a battlefield.
Lt. Thomas Chamberlain: Well, what are you gonna do with 'em, huh, sir? Colonel, sir. You can't shoot 'em, you'll never go back to Maine if you do that.
Col. Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain: I know that, I know that. I wonder if they do.
Your government will never ally itself with a Confederacy that had the institution of slavery. You know that, and so do I.
View Quote Lt. Thomas Chamberlain: Hello, men. What outfit you with?
Confederate Prisoner: Archer's Brigade, Heth's Division.
Lt. Thomas Chamberlain: Where you from?
Confederate Prisoner: Tennessee. How 'bout you?
Lt. Thomas Chamberlain: Maine. I never been to Tennessee.
Confederate Prisoner: I reckon I never been to Maine neither.
Lt. Thomas Chamberlain: I don't mean no disrespect to you fightin' men. But sometimes I can't help but figure, why you fightin' this war?
Confederate Prisoner: Why you fightin' it?
Lt. Thomas Chamberlain: Well, to free the slaves, of course. And to preserve the Union.
Confederate Prisoner: I don't know about some other folk but I ain't fightin' for no darkies, one way or the other. I'm fightin' for my rights [pronounced "rats"]. All of us that's what we're fightin' for.
Lt. Thomas Chamberlain: For your what?
Confederate Prisoner: For our rights. Why is it you folks can't just live the way you want to live, and let us live the way we do? Live and let live, I hear some folks say. Be a mite less fuss and bother if more folks took it to heart.
Lt. Thomas Chamberlain: [nods slowly, considering the man's words] Where'd you get captured?
Confederate Prisoner: Railroad cut just west of Gettysburg town. Wasn't a pretty sight. Many a good boy lost a young and promising life. Some were blue, some were grey. Seen enough of this war?
Lt. Thomas Chamberlain: I guess I have.
Confederate Prisoner: I guess I have, too. It looks like I'm gonna be sittin' out the rest of it.
Lt. Thomas Chamberlain: [nods] Well, I appreciate you talkin' to me.
Confederate Prisoner: [salutes] See you in hell, Billy Yank.
Lt. Thomas Chamberlain: [salutes] See you in hell, Johnny Reb.
View Quote I tell you, Lawrence... I sure was fond of that man. Lt. Thomas Chamberlain: Lawrence. I just got back from the hospital. Godawful mess. They got no room. They got no shade, they got men lyin' everywhere! They're cuttin' off arms and legs right out there on front of everybody. They oughta not do that in public, Lawrence. Men oughta have some privacy at a time like that.
Col Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain: You see Kilrain?
Lt. Thomas Chamberlain: [nods wordlessly]
Col. Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain: Well, how is he?
Lt. Thomas Chamberlain: [looks away] Well...Lawrence... he died. [takes off kepi] Yeah... He died this morning, 'fore I got there. A couple o' the fellows, they, they was with 'im. [looks at his brother] He said to tell you goodbye... And that he was sorry.
Col. Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain: Yeah.
Lt. Thomas Chamberlain: [glances across the field for a moment] I tell you, Lawrence... I sure was fond of that man.
Col. Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain: [forces a smile] Yeah.

Red Dawn (1984) as Robert

View Quote [At an execution]
Jed Eckert: Do you want blindfolds?
Stepan Gorsky: This violates the Geneva convention!
Jed Eckert: I never heard of it!
Stepan Gorsky: Dogface! I show you how Soviet dies.
Robert: I've seen it before, pal.
View Quote [The Eckerts head to the mountains with some friends]
Jed Eckert: Matt and I have been coming up to these mountains with our dad our whole lives. We can hunt, we can fish, we can stay up here a long, long time.
Robert: How long, Jed?
Jed Eckert: [indicating the jets above them] Until we don't hear that no more.
View Quote [Col. Tanner explains the war situation using the campfire as a representation of the US]
Col. Tanner: [gestures to parts of the campfire] West Coast, East Coast. Down here's Mexico. First wave of the attack came in disguised as commercial charter flights, same way they did in Afghanistan in '80. They were crack airborne outfits. They took these passes in the Rockies.
Jed: So that's what hit Calumet?
Col. Tanner: I guess so. They coordinated with selective nuke strikes, and the missiles were a hell of a lot more accurate than we thought; they took out the silos here in the Dakotas, key points of communication.
Darryl: Like what?
Col. Tanner: Oh, like Omaha, Washington, Kansas City.
Darryl: Gone?
Col. Tanner: Yeah. That's right.
Darryl: Jesus Christ.
Col. Tanner: Infiltrators, came up illegal; Cubans, mostly. They managed to infiltrate SAC bases in the Midwest, several down in Texas, wreaked a hell of a lot of havoc, I'm here to tell. They opened up the door, and the whole Cuban and Nicaraguan armies come walking right through, rolled right up here through the Great Plains.
Robert: How far'd they get?
Col. Tanner: Cheyenne, across to Kansas. We held 'em at the Rockies, and at the Mississippi. Anyway, the Russians reinforced with 60 divisions. Sent three whole army groups across the Bering Strait into Alaska, cut the pipeline, came across Canada, link up here in the middle but we stopped 'em but cold. Lines've pretty much stabilized now.
Matt Eckert: What about Europe?
Col. Andrew Tanner: I guess they figured twice in one century was enough. They're sitting this one out. All except England, and they won't last very long. The Russians need to take us in one piece, and that's why they're here now. That's why they won't use nukes anymore, and we won't either, not on our own soil. Whole damn thing's pretty conventional now. Who knows? Maybe next week will be swords.
Darryl: What started it?
Col. Tanner: Two toughest kids on the block, I guess. Sooner or later they gonna fight.
Jed: That simple?
Col. Tanner: Maybe somebody just forgot what it was like.
Jed: Well, who is on our side?
Tanner: Six hundred million screamin' ****.
Darryl: Well, last I heard, there were a billion screamin' ****.
Tanner: There were. [throws whiskey into fire, and it violently ignites for a moment, possibly signifying a Soviet nuclear strike on China]

Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox (2013) as Professor Zoom

View Quote Wonder Woman: [wraps her Lasso of Truth on Zoom] How do we shut off these charges?
Professor Zoom: You can't. We'll all be dead, shortly. The truth hurts, doesn't it?
View Quote Professor Zoom: As long as I can siphon off the Speed Force, you can't escape this timeline. I'm afraid there just isn't enough Speed Force to go around.
Batman: [shoots Zoom in the head] There is now.
The Flash: You killed him.
Batman: Not necessarily. Not if you go back in time and fix this. The only way to save the world is to keep this from ever happening.
View Quote The Flash: [about Flash's Mother] I just wanted to save her.
Professor Zoom: Her hero; how noble. Oh, wait! You didn't stop JFK from getting assassinated or make sure Hitler stayed in art school. You saved your mommy. You missed her. [starts kicking Flash] And in a supreme act of selfishness shattered history like a rank amateur, turned the world into a living hell moments away from destruction and I'm the villain?
The Flash: And yet, you're the one who killed her, Thawne, you sick asshole...
