[In a nearby village, an angry mob gather up to go to deal with Shrek. At night, they gather their torches and pitchforks and enter the swamp, trampling over Shrek's warning signs. Shrek sees them after investigating the commotion, rolling his eyes. The hunters stop outside Shrek's home, unaware that Shrek is sneaking up behind them.] [off-screen]
I think he's in there?
[sotto; intense]
All right, LET'S GET HIM! [Another villager looks alarmed and reaches out, grabbing the first and stopped him]
Whoa, hold on! Do you know what that thing could do to you? [A third villager pipes in]
[foreboding]
Yeah, he'll grind your bones for its bread. [The other villagers all stare at him bewildered]
[brightly, laughing]
Yes. [exposes himself, villagers gasp] Well, actually, that would be a giant. Now, ogres... oh, they're much worse. They'll make a suit from your freshly peeled skin!
No!
They'll shave your liver, squeeze the jelly from your eyes! Actually, it's quite good on toast.
[waves his torches in front of Shrek]
BACK! BACK, BEAST! BACK! I WARN YA! [Shrek calmly licks his fingers and extinguishes the torch like a match; he smiles nervously] Right.
[Shrek let out a huge long roars. Simultaneously, the villagers close their eyes and shout in shock, horror and panic for all they're worth. The villagers' huge, long shouts are too fast. Their shouts outlast Shrek's roars, and Shrek pounds them for a moment.] [whispers]
This is the part, where you run away. [the villagers do so; laughs] And stay out! [looks down at a discarded poster and picks it up to inspect.] "Wanted: Fairy tale creatures." [sighs, as he tosses the poster away.]
