Sarah
He said Santa would have to fly faster than the speed of light to get to everyone's house in one night. And to hold everyone's presents his sled would have to be bigger than an ocean liner.
Your brother said that? He was just kidding you. He knows there's a Santa.
Sarah
He said he wasn't sure. He wasn't sure if Santa was for real.
[Hero Boy has just done some research on the North Pole, further driving his doubt of Santa's existence, and has just bedded down for the night. His parents enter the room and quietly converse as their son lies half-asleep]

Mother

Mother

Mother
[Hero Boy's mother bends down to kiss him on the cheek; he quickly closes his eyes] [whispering]
Merry Christmas, sweetheart. [gives him a kiss as she and her husband turn to leave]
See, he's out like a light. An express train wouldn't wake him up now.
Hero Boy
[the parents close the bedroom door behind them] [thinking]
"End of the magic"?
