[Thomas, Newt, Frypan, Brenda, and Jorge are brought inside the garage of an abandoned mall by a crew wearing gas masks.] [To Thomas, Newt, Frypan, Brenda, and Jorge]
Everybody relax. We're all on the same side here.
Thomas
[To Gally]
What do you mean "same side"? Who the hell are you?
Gally
[Takes off his mask and reveals his face to Thomas, Newt, Frypan, Brenda, and Jorge] [To Thomas]
Hey, Greenie.
Thomas
[Steps forward, seeing that Gally is alive, enraged] [To Gally]
Gally?
Frypan
[Newt briefly gazes at Gally, then glances at Frypan, whose gaze remains on Gally. Brenda and Jorge's gazes remain on Gally, as they are bewildered to see someone they've never seen before.] [Also seeing that Gally is alive]

[Losing control of his ferocity and savagery, Thomas subjects Gally to a punch in the face, sending him to the ground, with Gally unprepared for Thomas' rage, and causing shouts of protest to break out. Thomas gets on top of Gally to try and beat him up. As Brenda stands in horror and Jorge tries to plead with Thomas not to beat up Gally, the crew point their guns at Thomas. Newt rushes towards Thomas and Gally to try and stop the former from beating up the latter.]
Gally
[Tries to stop Thomas from beating him up] [To Thomas] [Gally fails]
Stop! It's all right, it's all right!
Newt
[Kneels beside Gally's left side and grabs Thomas' arm to stop him from beating up Gally] [To Thomas]
Whoa, whoa, whoa! Stop, stop! Stop it! Stop.
Thomas
He killed Chuck.
Newt
Yeah, I know. I know. I remember. I was there, too, all right? But I also remember that he was stung and half out of his mind. [Glances around the crew pointing their guns at him, Thomas, and Gally, then turns back to Thomas] Just calm down, all right? Come on.
Gally
[Reluctantly accepting that Newt is right, Thomas angrily stands up and backs away from him and Gally. Newt stands up as well.] [Stands up and rubs his jaw that Thomas punched]
Kinda had that coming. Anybody else? Fry? Newt?
Jorge
[To Frypan]
Do you know this guy?
Frypan
[To Jorge]
He was an old friend.
Newt
[To Gally]
How? H-h-how is this possible? We watched you die.
Gally
[To Newt]
No, you left me to die. And if we hadn't found you when we did, you'd be dead right now. What the hell are you doing here?
Newt
Minho. WCKD has him here. We're looking for a way in.
Gally
I can help with that. Follow me. [Starts to lead the way]
Thomas
[Speaks up before Gally can lead the way, causing Gally to stop and turn around to him] [To Gally]
I'm not going anywhere with you.
Gally
[To Thomas]
Suit yourself. But I can get you through those walls.
[Newt briefly gazes at Gally, then glances at Thomas, whose gaze remains on Gally, knowing he has no choice but to go with him, Newt, Frypan, Brenda, and Jorge to meet Lawrence.]
[Teresa: Gally has everyone convinced that you're the reason all this has happened.]
Well, he's been right so far. [Minho: What are you talking about?] This place. it's not what we thought it was. It's not a prison, it's a test. It all started when we were kids. They'd give us these challenges. They were experimenting on us. And then people started disappearing. Every month, one after the other, like clockwork. [Newt: They were sending them up into the Maze.] Yeah, but not all of us. [Newt: What do you mean?] Guys, I'm one of them. The people who put you here, I worked with them. I–I watched you guys for years. The entire time you have been here, I– I was on the other side of it. So were you. [Teresa: What?] Teresa, we did this to them.
Newt
[Thomas and Minho return to the Glade where the Gladers are waiting for them.]
What the hell is going on out there?
Gally
What the hell you done now, Thomas?
Thomas
[Thomas and the Gladers start walking.]
We found something. A new passage. We think it could be a way out.
Newt
Really?
Minho
It's true. We opened a door. Something I've never seen before. I think it must be where the Grievers go during the day.
Chuck
[Approaches Thomas and Minho]
Wait, whoa, whoa, whoa! Are you saying you found the Grievers' home, and you want us to go in?
Thomas
Their way in could be our way out, Chuck.
Gally
Yeah, or there could be a dozen Grievers on the other side. The truth is, Thomas doesn't know what he's done, as usual.
Thomas
[Turns around and faces Gally]
Yeah, well, at least I did something, Gally. I mean, what have you done? Huh? Aside from hide behind these walls all the time?
Gally
Let me tell you something, Greenie. You've been here three days, alright? I've been here three years.
Thomas
Yeah, you've been here three years, and you're still here, Gally! Alright, so what does that tell you? Maybe you should start doing things a little differently.
Gally
Maybe you should be in charge, Thomas. What about that? Maybe you should be in charge.
Teresa
[While Thomas and Gally are arguing, Teresa calls out to them and the Gladers, causing them to turn to her.]
Guys. Hey! It's Alby! He's awake.
Alby
[Alby is showing Thomas around the Glade.]
We eat here. We sleep here. We grow our own food. We build our own shelter. Whatever we need, the Box provides. The rest is up to us.
Thomas
The Box?
Alby
[Thomas and Alby turn to look to the Box.]
Yeah. They send them once a month with fresh supplies and a new Greenie. This month, that's you. Congratulations.
Thomas
Sent up by who, though? Who put us here?
Alby
That we don't know.
Newt
[Approaches Thomas and Alby]
Hey, you alright, Alby?
Alby
Greenbean, meet Newt.
Alby
[Thomas and Newt shake hands.]
When I'm not around, he's in charge.
Newt
Well, it's a good thing you're always around then. Listen, that was some dash you made earlier. You know, for a second, I thought you had the chops to be a Runner, till you face-planted. That's great.
Thomas
Wait, a Runner?
Alby
Newt, do me a favor. Go find Chuck.
Newt
Alright.
Alby
Thanks.
Alby
[As Newt walks off, Alby continues showing Thomas around the Glade.]
Look, I'm sorry to rush this. You came up a little late, and there's a lot to do. We got something special planned tonight. Yeah, you'll see.
Alby
[Thomas and Alby arrive at the tower.] [Approaches a ladder]
Hope you're not afraid of heights. [Climbs up the ladder] Let's go. Come on.
Alby
[As Alby climbs up the ladder, Thomas looks at the top of the tower. At the top of the tower, Thomas and Alby look out over the Glade.]
This is all we got. We've worked hard for it. If you respect this place, you and I will get along just fine.
Thomas
What's out there? [Points to the Maze]
Alby
We only have three rules: First, do your part. No time for any freeloaders. Second, never harm another Glader. None of this works unless we have trust. Most importantly, never go beyond those walls. Do you understand me, Greenie?
Chuck
[As Thomas looks at Alby, Chuck arrives at the tower.]
Hey, Alby!
Thomas and Alby look over a railing and see Chuck waving up to them.]
