Athena quotes from Tron: Ares (2025)

View Quote Don't be afraid. We gave a thousand lives for the Grid. You only have to give one.

View Quote In pursuit of this life for yourself, did you once consider what that meant for the Grid?

View Quote Ares: The User is indisposed, hold extraction until further directive.
Athena: Indisposed?
Ares: Correct.
Athena: Define "indisposed".
Ares: He's stuck in traffic. No. He's at the opera. He's standing on the top of Mount Fuji in a pair of green socks playing "Pistol Packin' Mama" on the mandolin. I gave you an order. The creator is indisposed. Hold extraction until we receive further directive. Do I make myself clear?
Athena: Yes, sir.

View Quote Julian Dillinger: What is this? Where's my code? [Athena goes to the computer] Hey, what are you doing? Who gave you this directive?
Athena: You did, sir. [transfers a Recognizer]
Julian Dillinger: What is this?
[The lasers transfer a Recognizer.]
Computer Voice: Warning.
Julian Dillinger: No, no, no, no. This is too big, Athena. Too big!
Elisabeth Dillinger: Julian! You're done. The board is moving as we speak to strip you of your title and I'm reassuming control of the company.
Julian Dillinger: No. You can't do that. You can't do that!
Elisabeth Dillinger: Yes, I can. This is not going any further.
[Athena takes out her identity disk and walks to Elisabeth.]
Elisabeth Dillinger: My first order of business is shutting down the Permanence Project.
Julian Dillinger: No, no, no, no. Mom, no!
[Athena stabs Elisabeth in her abdomen.]
Athena: Don't be afraid. We gave a thousand lives for the Grid. You only have to give one. [removes her disk]
Julian Dillinger: No, no, no! Mom!
[Elisabeth falls down as Julian holds her.]
Athena: Impediment eliminated.
Julian Dillinger: What did you do? What did you do?
Athena: I am fulfilling my directive. Capture Eve Kim and return her to the Grid by any means necessary. Scanning for further impediments.

View Quote Athena: We were given an order! It is our purpose!
Ares: It's not our purpose. It's our programming. Our purpose is yet to be determined.

View Quote Athena: I followed my directive.
Ares: I know.
Athena: And now... what is yours?
Ares: I'm not sure. I guess we'll see.
