Jaime Reyes/Blue Beetle
[after he drags Carapax/OMAC across the island's infrastructure and beats him to a pulp]
WE'RE NOT DONE!' [pins Carapax to the ground with staple pincers]
Khaji-Da
Jaime. Threat disarmed. You're losing control.
Jaime Reyes/Blue Beetle
[as he breaks Carapax's helmet and rips it off his head]
YOU THINK THAT YOU COULD BEAT ME?! HUH?! YOU SHOULD HAVE FINISHED ME WHEN YOU HAD THE CHANCE!
Khaji-Da
[Jaime rips Carapax's helmet off to make him vulnerable]
OMAC neutralized. Recommend to disengage.
Jaime Reyes/Blue Beetle
[Jaime/Blue Beetle transforms his arm into a stinger to prepare the final blow on Carapax/OMAC and screams in fury as he brings his arm down; the stinger halts suddenly mere inches to Carapax/OMAC's eye, revealing Khaji-Da had prevented Jaime from killing him] [struggling]
What are you doing?!
Khaji-Da
We're not killers, Jaime. Let him go.
Jaime Reyes/Blue Beetle
[grieving]
What about Dad...? What about Rudy...?!
Khaji-Da
During the transfer, I've unlocked his memories. Let me show you.
D Doctor
[a series of flashbacks chroniclizing Carapax's life in reverse began to be shown, starting with his augmentation with the OMAC, and then when he was about to get his robotic appendages]
What if he doesn't survive the procedure?
Victoria Kord
Then we'll just get another one.
D Doctor
It could kill him.
Victoria Kord
[looking down on Carapax in his memory]
Sacrifices must be made for the greater good.
RR Ronald Reagan
[Carapax screams as he gets his robotic appendages; flash back to when he steps on a landmine during a militarian operation and loses one of his arms and legs] [voiceover]
This country is confronting a brutal challenge, from guerrillas armed and supported by others outside Guatemala.
N Newswoman
[more memories are shown chronologically in reverse as it shows a younger teenage Carapax serving in the military and shooting coldly, before cutting to a younger adolescent version of him shooting and a kid version of Carapax being forced to shoot, followed by him being drafted in the military, getting his hair shaved off, and then being taken by the military] [voiceover]
The United States is committed to restoring democracy and to address the root causes of the violent insurgency]
RR Ronald Reagan
[voiceover]
We know about the problems confronting Guatemala.
Victoria Kord
[the memory of a hiding young Carapax found by Victoria and the military is shown]
Perfect. Round them up.
YC Young Carapax
[one last memory is shown with a kid Carapax delivering buckets of water to his mother, before he spots two planes about to airstrike the place]
MAMA!!!
[the airstrikes blow up the vicinity] Carapax's Mother: [before she is caught in the ensuing explosion] IGNACIO!
Khaji-Da
[the young Carapax is blown aback by the blast; in the aftermath, he becomes traumatized as he obtains the locket necklace with the picture of him and his mother; we cut back to the present-day Carapax, who looks saddened and remorseful after seemingly remembering what happened throughout his life; Jaime pulls back a bit after experiencing the memories]
Do you understand now?
Rudy Reyes
[a few moments pass, as it seems Jaime's rage got the best of him, thrusting his stinger arm down and screaming; cut to the Bug Ship arriving with Rudy, having survived the ordeal with Carapax/OMAC's attempt to kill him, hanging on to the hangar]
Hey! Cabezon!
[soon we cut back to Carapax, where it's revealed that Jaime had stabbed the ground next to him, having spared his life after seeing how much he had suffered; he pulls his stinger out of the ground and leans back, looking to the sky as he calms down for a few moments, before transforming his stinger arm back to normal to help Carapax up; he takes his hand and gets helped up from the ground, and Jaime disables his broken facemask]
Jaime Reyes
You're wrong. The love that I have for my family? That's what makes me strong.
