View Quote Elrond: You're outnumbered. You need more men.
Aragorn: There are none.
Elrond: There are those who dwell inside the mountain. [a fell wind blows through the tent]
Aragorn: Murderers. Traitors. They answer to no one.
Elrond: [pulling out Andúril] They will answer to the King of Gondor!
View Quote Elrond: The man who can wield the power of this sword can summon to him an army more deadly than any that walks this Earth. Put aside the Ranger... become who you were born to be.

Aragorn: Ú-chebin estel anim. ("I keep none for myself")
View Quote Aragorn: Éowyn... why have you come?
Éowyn: Do you not know?
Aragorn: It is but a shadow and a thought that you love. I cannot give you what you seek. I have wished you joy since first I saw you.
View Quote Gimli: And just where do you think you're going?
Aragron: Not this time. This time you must stay, Gimli.
Legolas: Have you learned nothing of the stubbornness of dwarves?
Gimli: You might as well face it. We're going with you, laddie.
View Quote King of the Dead: Who enters my domain? [the King materialises]
Aragorn: One who will have your allegiance.
King of the Dead: The Dead do not suffer the living to pass.
Aragorn: You will suffer me! [the King of the Dead laughs, which echoes round the cavern. The army of the dead emerge from the far side. Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli are surrounded.]
King of the Dead: The way is shut. It was made by those who are dead. and we dead keep it. The way is shut. Now you must die! [Legolas fires an arrow. It passes through the King as if nothing was there.]
Aragorn: I summon you to fulfill your oath.
King of the Dead: None but the King of Gondor may command me! [Aragorn raises Andúril, blocking the king's blow] That line was broken!
Aragorn: [holding the sword to the King's throat] It has been remade! [pushes the king back] Fight for us, and regain your honour. [looks around at the army] What say you?
Gimli: You're wasting your time, Aragorn. They had little honour in life, they have none now in death.
Aragorn: I am Isildur's heir. Fight, and I will Hold your oaths fulfilled. What say you!
[the king of the Dead laughs. The army starts to vanish.]
Aragorn: You have my word! Fight, and I shall release you from this living death! What say you! [the army vanishes]
Gimli: Stand, you traitors! [the cavern collapses - thousands of skulls fall on the heroes]
Aragorn: Out! [the three escape. They emerge to find the Corsair ships on the river. Aragorn kneels in despair. He hears a noise from behind, and turns around. The King of the Dead emerges from the wall.]
King of the Dead: We fight!
View Quote [Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli stand at the edge of the Anduin, while the corsair ships sail by]
Aragorn: You may go no further. You will not enter Gondor.
Corsair captain: [laughing] Who are you to deny us passage?
Aragorn: Legolas, fire a warning shot past the botswain's ear.
Gimli: And mind your aim!
[as Legolas fires, Gimli taps the bow with his axe handle. The arrow instead kills the botswain.]
Gimli: Alright, we warned you! Prepare to be boarded!
Corsair captain: [as the crew laughs] Boarded? By you and whose army?
Aragorn: This army.
[The Dead Army appear behind the three and charge at the ships]

Witch-King: Do you not know death when you see it, old man?
[Pippin screams in fear]
Witch-King: [draws his sword; the blade ignites] This is... my hour!
[After an intense battle of wills, Gandalf's staff shatters, and he and Pippin are knocked off Shadowfax]
Pippin: Gandalf! [Attempts to defend him, but is soon petrified with fear as the Fell Beast roars]
Witch-King: You have failed. The world of Men will fall.
[The Rohirrim trumpets blare in the distance, and the Witch-king flies off]
View Quote Pippin: I didn't think it would end this way.
Gandalf: End? No, the journey doesn't end here. Death is just another path. One that we all must take. The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass... then you see it!
Pippin: What? Gandalf? See what?
Gandalf: White shores... and beyond. A far green country, under a swift sunrise.
Pippin: Well, that isn't so bad.
Gandalf: No. No, it isn't.
View Quote [Legolas and Gimli are having a contest, seeing who can kill the most enemies until the battle is over]
Legolas: Fifteen... sixteen...
Gimli: Seventeen... eighteen... nineteen...
[Legolas scales a Mûmakil, eventually climbing on top and shooting the Haradrim archers at the summit]
Legolas: Thirty three... thirty four...
[Legolas runs along its back, kills it with one triple-arrow shot, and slides down its trunk to land in front of Gimli]
Gimli: That still only counts as one!
View Quote Witch-King: Feast on his flesh.
Éowyn: I will kill you if you touch him!
Witch King: Do not come between the Nazgûl and his prey.
[The Fell Beast attacks, and Éowyn cuts off its head with two strikes. The beast falls, and the Witch-King rises up and attacks]
Witch-King: You fool. No man can kill me. [He grabs her by the throat] Die now!
[Merry stabs the Witch-King in the calf, causing him to collapse in pain. Éowyn rises, pulling off her helm]
Éowyn: I am no man!

View Quote King of the Dead: Release us!
Gimli: Bad idea! Very handy in a tight spot, these lads, despite the fact they're dead.
King of the Dead: You gave us your word!
Aragorn: I hold your oaths fulfilled. Go. Be at peace.
View Quote Gandalf: Frodo has passed beyond my sight. The darkness is deepening.
Aragorn: If Sauron had the Ring we would know it.
Gandalf: It's only a matter of time. He's suffered a defeat, yes, but behind the walls of Mordor our enemy is regrouping.
Gimli: Let him stay there, let him rot! Why should we care?
Gandalf: Because ten thousand orcs now stand between Frodo and Mount Doom. I've sent him to his death.
Aragorn: No. There is still hope for Frodo. He needs time, and safe passage across the plains of Gorgoroth - we can give him that.
Gimli: How?
Aragorn: Draw out Sauron's armies, empty his lands. Then we gather our full strength and march on the Black Gate.
Éomer: We cannot achieve victory through strength of arms.
Aragorn: Not for ourselves, but we can give Frodo his chance if we keep Sauron's Eye fixed upon us. Keep him blind to all else that moves.
Legolas: A diversion.
Gimli: Certainty of death... Small chance of success... What are we waitin' for?
Gandalf: Sauron will suspect a trap. He will not take the bait.
Aragorn: Oh, I think he will.
View Quote Éowyn: The city has fallen silent. There is no warmth left in the sun. It grows so cold.
Faramir: It's just the damp of the first spring rain. I do not believe this darkness will endure.
View Quote Mouth of Sauron: My Master, Sauron the Great, bids thee welcome. [he grins wildly] Is there any in this rout with authority to treat with me?
Gandalf: We do not come to treat with Sauron, faithless and accursed! Tell your master this. The armies of Mordor must disband. He is to depart these lands, never to return.
Mouth of Sauron: Aha! Old Greybeard. I have a token that I was bidden to show thee. [holds up Frodo's Mithril coat and throws it at Gandalf, who stares in horror]
Pippin: Frodo... Frodo!
Gandalf: Silence.
Merry: No!
Gandalf: Silence!
Mouth of Sauron: The Halfling was dear to thee, I see. Know that he suffered greatly at the hands of his host. [he looks around, grinning] Who would have thought that one so small could endure so much pain? And he did, Gandalf. He did. Aha!
[Aragorn rides forward]
Mouth of Sauron: And who is this? Isildur's Heir? It takes more to make a king than a broken Elvish blade.
[With a yell of rage, Aragorn cuts the Mouth of Sauron's head off]
Gimli: I guess that concludes negotiations.
Aragorn: I do not believe it! I will not!
